A previous setup I had:

stock rear with 3.73 gears
Mcleod single clutch (kevlar/organic disk)
Nitto Drag radials 275/40/17 on 17x9" WS6 rims
MTI Stage 2 heads, T1 cam, LS1 intake
3695 lbs raceweight

Best 60' = 1.72
Average 60' = 1.78

I would hold the rpm between 3500-4000 rpm and slip the clutch out carefully, while trying to maintain the constant rpm between that window. Once the car felt like the tires were grabbing and the rear squatted, I would let the clutch all the way out and floor it. Training myself not to floor it immediately was the hardest part.

Here is a video from 2 years ago, 11.92 @ 117 mph with a 1.75 60' time on 275/40/17 Nittos @ 22 psi

11.92 @ 117 video

You can hear the clutch slipping out when I take off. Yes, its hard on the clutch, but great on the timeslip! Takes some practice for sure, pretty challenging to run quick on radials.
