Default Using a trailer

I have never trailered anything in m life. I am going to take my car to PA. and I want to trailer it. My friends told me I could use their truck and trailer but I have no experience in doing this. Is it hard to do? I think I would be extremely nervous !

No, it's not hard at all. You just have to remember that you have an extra 16', 18', or however much trailer behind you. I pulled my 1st trailer at the age of 16, so it's kind of second nature for me now. The biggest thing I can stress is that you need a lot of extra room to stop, even with trailer brakes. All of that extra weight is extra momentum, and it takes a lot more to get it stopped. Also, watch your turns. You'll need to swing it wide to keep from doing a "curb check", and also remember that the trailer is wider than your truck. It can be a little overwhelming the first time you pull one, but you'll get used to it quickly.

All good points.

Let me add:
When your on the free way. It is no prob.
It is when your driving around the town. Making turns and stuff. GO WIDE. Give your self PLENTY of braking distance beteen you and the car in front of you. Change lanes far ahead of where you actually have to. (like getting ready for a exit)
Double and triple check your load/straps/lights.
I pull over every few hours and tighten the straps and check out the trailor and stuff.

I sure feel better after everything looks good and can drive in relative peace.

Be wary but dont be afraid. It is not hard if you keep your focus.

p.s., Pulling in and out of small gas stations sucks.

I do that at every gas stop - REAL good idea.

I'd stress again about braking distances...leave plenty of room between you and the car in front of you. Also, before you pull into a parking lot or something similar, look around real good to make sure you can easily get out.

Good luck.
