I never weighed the original steering wheel, so I don't know how much (if any) weight was saved. Nothing too significant though. I just wanted an aftermarket wheel, and what little weight savings could be had were considered a bonus.
Pretty much any wheel you choose will fit. When you buy the mounting kit, just get one that fits an '82-up Camaro. The only extra thing I had to do was use a few washers between the hub and the wheel itself to space it away from the steering column and extra .070" or so...
I went with a 15" wheel, which turned out being a little bigger than the factory wheel (but makes for slightly easier steering if you've deleted the power steering as I have)...
I can take some detailed pics and put them up tomorrow if you like...
George if you could post a few pics that would be a bonus!
BTW, George. I noticed in your interior the emergency brake handle is missing. What's up with that?

When I get home today I'll snap some pics for you, John... As far as the parking brake, who needs it? Besides, my Wilwood brakes have no provision for a parking brake on them. Dead weight (again, not a lot, though).

I'll weigh the air bag tonight, but I know the steering wheel itself is 5#. The new wheel and adapter weight no more than the factory sterring wheel.
Ohhh man!! I justed checked out the Billet Specialties web site. I'm ordering one of their steering wheels tonight! Does anyone know what the diameter of the stock steering wheel is?
[ February 21, 2002: Message edited by: Big Mike ]

the stock wheel weighs in at a not so svelte 9 pounds, and is 15.5 in. in dia.
