Default 60' for Dummies

So I have a 96 Z with H/C.
I need some help with the 60'. I'll admit it, it sucks. The best I've been able to cut is 2.1.
I am still on sumitomos but I feel like it should be able to cut a better 60' than that.
Right now I have relo brackets and the rest of the suspension is completely stock. So really not much to change.. Besides maybe pulling the front seat bar and a sticky tire?
Just looking for some advice.

6 speed cars are harder to launch. Those tires you running now are just like ice. Start with a better tire such as a hoosier drag radial then go from there. Save your money for aftermarket suspension parts as well.

I've had food luck with Hoosier DR's on a manual. Some guys say bias are better but I've never tried.

Consistency is your goal here so you can tune the suspension, tire pressure, and power management.

First thing is the tires. You can use a DR, but they will never work as well as a slick or bias type street tire. Get the tallest tire on the smallest wheel you can... I'd suggest maybe even a different set of rear wheels you can dedicate to the sticky tires.

Next is a 2 step rev limiter. This will allow you to launch at the same rpm every time, and then work on the tuneup from there.

For other supporting mods get rid of the front sway bar, and invest in some shocks. Shocks will be the single most important part of the combo you can do. After that do a set of heim jointed LCAs and then a tunnel mount torque arm. This is a proven package and will easily yield huge gains for you.

If you need more help you can always call us, we will be happy to help you reach your performance goals. MWC manufactures the finest suspension components available and offer high quality components from places such as Afco, Strange Engineerering, Viking Performance, and many others.

You arent gonna hook a 6 speed on sumitomos. No ifs ands or buts about it.

You may be right.
But don't exactly have money to buy a sticky tire right now.
Soo I'm going to go have fun with what I have

Couldn't hook with them in a A4 Camaro either

4.10 gears helped my 60' but I was too leary to put slicks on the 10 bolt. With some M/T bias plies I immediately knocked a half second off my ET post S60.

I couldn't agree with this statement anymore!

To get traction you have to look at the overall combination and it won't matter what suspension parts you do or don't have you are not going to hook with those tires in 6 speed car.

I DID have better traction from a sumi with about 18 psi in it. It feels a little squishy in the back which helps absorb the hp. Still not gonna hook from a dig with any kind of heavy throttle though.

Anyone every needled a real hard tire like what I have? Kinda curious what it would do, if anything.

Went to the local 1/8 last night! Man it was a good night!
Since last time I was out, I shaved .6 sec and gained 8mph through the traps! And I got my 60' down to 2.1.
I know that 60' still isn't that great but man I was pumped about it.
From when the car was all stock last year I shaved a whole second! And gained 10mph through the traps!
Car still has stock gear, clutch and suspension for most part. Reallyy want to get a sticky tire under it and make some adjustment to see what it can do. I think there is and 8.2 in it at closer to 90

Send a PM to HioSSilver and tell him I sent you. He's cutting 1.2 60's with a 6speed drag radial setup in a bolt on ls6 fbody
