KNOCK KNOCK!! Here I come!
Today's my B-day so I didn't do alot of the little extra weight reduction stuff I was planning.
Anyways... got there early, and teched, and lined up in stageing lanes..I was first to run in my lane. Did a nice burnout on the new et-drags, staged...the lights go down, and I let it rip.
It lifts the front pretty damn High, high enough I couldn't see most of the track, and carried a good ways. But the BMR drag bar works!! It lifted even, and very stable. I real nice run. Downside...it was shifting WAY to early. I forgot to put the car in "3", and it shifted into OD way before I got to the traps. end result.
10.495 @ 129.99 with a 1.43 60'
I call up some guys , and let em know, and get ready to change the shift points with my hpp3 over the ls1edit tuning. Then I decide to make one more pass "as is" to pay more attention to the shift points. This time my burnout sucked, so I cut it short. Then staged, and let it rip again. Comes up not quite as high this time, and front end seem to fall more quickly. Ran it out seemed to be shifting around 6200. Same thing..OD way before the traps...AND a big splooge of coolant on the windshield. So coasting through the back side of the traps results.
10.451 @ 130.39 mph on a 1.46 60'
Looks like a blown head gasket, we just watched the video...looks like it blew right out of the lights.
But hey I'm still happy. Not bad for the first shakedown runs.
What was your raceweight?
Congrats, it will only get better from here
Big thanks to Nineball for helping me , and my dad push the car on the trailer ( can you say time for a winch ).
My last known raceweight was 3390 on fumes. since then I have
added:
moser 12 bolt with big axles/posi
chromoly cage
fullsize battery
chromoly kmem/aarms
hal shocks/springs (front only)
pin-on hood
kirkey race seat
5pt harness
tonight I had halfway between 1/4 and 1/2 tank on the gauge
Plus I've lost a lot of weight myself.
BTW are you gonna be at HRP next Wed or Fri?? I'll be there both days, hopefully.
What's your setup, hyd cam?, solid roller cam?, how many cubes?
BTW Happy Birthday!

Congrats Larry. Sorry for the bad luck. Dang ol' sleeves.
I know you'll be back on top.... in just a little bit. Good luck.

Who knows how its going to run...I suspect the shift points are going to be major whack. Throw in I'm running a never before tested converter..and chances for setting any kind of records are slim. Just looking to go out and have some fun. If I run faster than 10.6 I'll be happy, If I run faster than 10.3 I'll be ecstatic! If I run at or near a 10.doh.... oh man, well I'm not bringing a second pair of pants

Custom LSX tuning in person or via email press here.
The car is a MTI 422 with lS6 stage III heads, hydrolic cam. Built 4l60e ( from my h/c days ) with a prototype converter I was testing for MTI.
I tell you what I dig the most though! After the first run I called Jayson@MTI and told him the results, and that I needed to adjust the shiftpoints. I called him back after the second run...to tell him what happened. The first thing he said was..."get it back to us as quick as you can so we can fix it!"
I may capture the video of the second pass.
Anyways thanks again guys, hopefully we'll be out soon again, and get a little quicker.
