if you crash on the strip...
Insurance won't cover your damages right?
How do you guys justify the risk?
I drag raced my car one time at irwindale but I've been thinking about that and all the what ifs...

Thats what I would do
A friend of mine got himself in a little trouble because of this a while back. He had a 4X4 truck and his insurance policy specifically stated if the truck was xxx amount of miles off road then insurance would not recover any kind of repairs to his vehicle or another vehicle involved. He was further off road then the policy allowed and since the rangers/police were involved with the report it was impossible to cover up. He continued to make payments for what he owed on the totalled truck.

I was good friends with my agent at the time and after it was fixed I asked him what would happen if you crashed at a dragstrip during time runs, he pretty much said if you crash at the dragstrip you are screwed. Racing against the clock is considered a 'competitive event' and that would be that.
not necessarily true, a good friend of mine called them up when he blew his rear at the track, and they picked his car up from the pits and drove it all the way to his house (75 miles away).
if you're being a funny guy, you just worry about what you do and i'll worry about me, thanks

It's sorta interesting that the insurance company will treat a wreck while street racing the same as a wreck on a drag strip. There goes one argument against racing @ the track. When I was younger, this was always a concern with me since my rates were so high.
FWIW, if someone puts a 12 or 13 second car into the wall, they deserve to crash and shouldn't be driving!
