Is 5500rpm too low of a shiftpoint for best et's. What do most of you guys shift at with just the usual bolt ons.

I have stock rev limiter settings and shift at 5900 and keep off the limiter. This is with the help of a Harlan shift light. If you dont have one ide get one. Best 50 bucks ive spent.

LOL

Thanks Dave <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

Run it up to 6K or so. I've got my light at 5800 to catch 1st and 2nd gear, then i wait a bit after the light in 3rd and 4th.

Right to red line for me <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

I launch at 3400,short shift 1st at 5600 on our slow tach, and 6100 the rest of the way.It is higher rpms than it shoes mostlikely.
When I short shift 1st I have no wheel spin and the car just tears from then on out.

My shift light is also set to 5800. But Atap tells me that even though I shift when the light comes on in first gear the rpms still hit between 6150-6197 area. In 2 and 3rd gears I don't use the shift light, I speed shift when my Autometer tach reads 6000.

Shift as close the limiter as you can. With a stock limitier I had my light set for 6000. The more experience you get you will be able to anticipate the shift point coming up and you can move you shift light up to 6100.
