mods needed for a low 10s ls2?
Here's my real world experience:
10.28@129: 2000 Trans am at 3500 lbs race weight, 3.73 in 10 bolt, stock 4l60e with HD2 kit, stock aluminum drive shaft, 241 heads not milled and home ported, TV2 cam, LS6 intake, reworked vig stall by PTC, Nitrous outlet 185 hit, 93 pump gas.
10.09@133: same car at 3740 lbs due to added a foward manual valve body th400 when the 4l60e died, then killed the 10 bolt and put in a 9" with spool and 3.70 gear and 35 spline axles, steel PST driveshaft, went from 8" to 10" rear wheels, added a 6 point mild steel roll bar. Same motor setup as above but on a 250 hit with a splash of c16. The back seat and front leather seats stay in for racing. I only remove floor mats and rear divider.
The car went from 15 mpg with the 4l60e to 13 mpg with the th400 with no lock up.

Its been almost 6 months since the first post, have you started this build yet? what motor combination have you decided on? I'm curious to see a GTO go this fast with a manual trans. Post pics and info as the build goes along.

If everything works out, build should happen this June. Current plan is a single front mount 70~mm turbo (think ive narrowed it down to either hx55 or on3 76mm). Flipped truck manifolds with a 2.5'' crossover under the radiator, pretty standard when it comes to turbo goats. Stock block since hey the stock ones still working so until it busts im not going to bother with a junkyard ls from a tahoe. Aiming for around 500 wheel for longevity's sake, first mod after the immediate build is going to be some dual valve springs and a turbo cam. In the future if i have a lot of spare income ill look into stroking to a 408 with forged pistons and rods to hit around 1000 flywheel with the same turbo setup at around 15-18 psi. Other mods i have planned would be some 90/10 front shocks and 3.93 gears, but those are all contingent on getting the funds as always. Ill be sure to start a build thread in the FI section once the build starts!
