Re: Who has the lightest car?
On all this lightweight talk, I have a question.
If 2 cars, we'll say car #1 & car #2 weigh within 100-150lbs of each other, and we are talking lightweight cars here.
Each car has an identical 60', but car #1 has a big bore stroker motor, and car #2 has stock bore.
Car #1 runs about 5-6 tenths faster than car #2.
I realize that the big bore stroker car will outshine the stock cube car on the top end, but shouldn't it as well outshine on the 60' being that they have nearly identical raceweights?
The big bore stroker should have gobs more tq to out 60' the stock cube car.

Tim

Depends on if you can hook or not and utilize all or most of the available torque...my 87 Turbo Regal (low to mid 11's at 124+ mph) has TONS more torque than my Formula, yet, with it's almost bone stock suspension and skinny slicks, I can't leave very hard or I blow away the tires. Best 60' for it is 1.60', though it is about 600+#'s heavier. My buddy's Regal, about the same race weight and engine tune/mods but has quite a bit of suspension work, different rear brake cylinders (to hold more boost without pushing through the lights) and has much larger slicks (11's vs. 9's as he's trimmed his fender well and notched his frame). He is able to leave at 12#'s of boost vs. 5-6#'s...he's around 1.45-1.50 60', though both us still have the stock torque converters. As a result, he runs low, low 11's at about the same mph as mine.
That said, unless the stroker has the traction / ability to leave utilizing much / all of its torque, you could easily have a less powerful car 60' better. That said, the power-to-weight difference should show on the big end, especially mph. Take care.

Ya know, the usual wheel up launches from both cars, no spinning from either car.
