Lightbulb First Time Out At The Track

Took my bird out to the track for the first time to see how she would do. She is on Sumitomo HTR Z II street tires.

Dyno results along with the three runs are listed below, "DIFF" column is time deference for each interval, IE. first time diff would be 330ft minus 60ft... Yes I am a gear head/geek, writing c# and sql code for a living ...

A lot of things went wrong that night, but let me know your thoughts...

lots of stuff doesn't add up , why is it slower on 2 of 3 passes in the 1/4 than the 1/8th and the other barely a gain ?

even with your terrible 60 foots trap speeds should reflect how much power your making , that type of power should be high 120's or so trap speed in the 1/4 and gaining 30 mph from 1/8 to 1/4.

Any stock Ls1 car should run quicker than that , I take it the problems were big ones....

^ the times he posted are 1000 feet not 1320 feet.

but like he said it's still obvious you have some issues.. how are you going down the track? even if you spin the first 100 feet there is no way you run that slow with 450 rwhp unless you are just letting off the throttle unnecessarily.

what transmission? what mods?

I'm confused. It's like you let off after the 1000ft? You car should be trapping much higher than that. For comparison, way back in the day, my car dynoed 425rwhp as a H/C car. It iwas on a similar street tire to yours, and it was an M6 car. But I took it to the track and managed a 12.42@115. It was full weight at the time too, and so it was probably around 3600# car only.

Sorry for not updating those who did repsond... The above times were a result of spinning and bogging off the line... and then the money shift on the big end, <b>twice</b>... I was on a complete stock suspension/street tires...

Going back to the track again tonight(weather permitting), added the following:
Drag Radials - Nitto NT05R 275/40r17
UMI Subframe Connectors
UMI Rear Lower Control Arms
Founders LCA Relocation Brackets
UMI Torque Tube - Non adjustable
UMI Panhard Bar

Hopeing these mods, especially the DR's will help me out tonight...

Better times, but traction is still an issue.
I would do a 4-5 second burnout around 5k in 1st gear...
I was leaving on the 2step at 3500, dumping the clutch...
1st run was on 20psi and the next two were on 18psi...
DA was at 6700 ft...

Went for a 4th run, with 15psi, but when i dumped the clutch something let go in the 10 bolt, shocker, I still have reverse but no forward gears...

Based on my mph I think it still has a lot left in it...

1st Run:
RT: 0.244
60 FT: 2.677
330 FT: 7.629
1/8 Mile: 10.943
1/8 Mile MPH: 77.43
1000 FT: 13.620
ET: 15.824
MPH: 103.72

2nd Run:
RT: 0.647
60 FT: 2.101
330 FT: 5.741
1/8 Mile: 8.691
1/8 Mile MPH: 84.30
1000 FT: 11.208
ET: 13.301
MPH: 108.58

3rd Run:
RT: 0.535
60 FT: 2.081
330 FT: 5.797
1/8 Mile: 8.750
1/8 Mile MPH: 84.65
1000 FT: 11.256
ET: 13.344
MPH: 109.03

Any suggestions/feedback are welcome.

Ok so the car makes 450 rwhp, but only traps 109. Even with a 2.1 60ft something is way wrong, assuming your shifts are decent, car is running ok, etc..

Sorry about the inaccurate dyno graph up top, mustang dyno dialed to give very fluffed numbers... on a dyno jet she put 398rwhp/392rwtq, given my h/c combo that to me seems more accurate...

Even at 398 rwhp something is still way off unless you are racing on top of a mountain or something lol. Who tuned the car? What kind of timing are you running?

My old cam only setup made 399 and trapped almost 93mph in the 1/8th. Didn't matter the 60ft really. And it was full weight then as well. Something is definitely holding that thing back. And I would recommend a 2nd gear burn out for about the same time.

That DA is pretty bad, and definitely hurting your mph, but even still 109 mph is a bit low

DA of 6700 ft is a big part of the problem.
Do a correction to sea level and that should make you happier.

I agree that this is the whole problem combined with far from perfect driving ( not a jab op just a guess )

Corrected he is running 12.1 @ 118 mph and if he is able to get that 60' down to even a 1.8x he would be deep into the 11's in good air.

Imo it is 100% elevation combined with less than perfect driving

Also I think you would find your 60' improving if you did a quick slip of the clutch instead of dumping it with a radial

Not taken as a jab at all! This is literally my first stick I have ever owned, so while learning the best techniques to shift I am at the same time feeling out the car.

For an update though, on the last pass, I thought the ring or pinion or the posi let go, well this is what happened...

Nope, basically held in by the caliper bolts.
