Can't get M6 to hook-up at track

From: sojourning....looking for my city whose builder and maker is God.
Can't get M6 to hook-up at track Have 2001 WS6 with just most bolt-ons. How do I get it to hook-up at the track?

With my stock redials I was only pulling 2.1 60's if you needed a comparison.

Re: Can't get M6 to hook-up at track Best thing you can do is get some better tires. The best way to launch on street tires is to slip the clutch, but it will wear much faster than just dumping it.

Here is what I do.Lower tire pressure to 25lbs.
Do a good burnout.I pop the clutch at 4500 rpm and mash the gas and hold it at 5000-5500rpm till it really smokes up.
Roll out of the burnout to the line.Stage,Bring rpm up to 3000rpm and on last yellow let clutch out fairly fast and floor it.This gives me consistant 1.93-2.0 60's.Also shift like you stole it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

NEVER DO A BURNOUT ON STREET TIRES!!! all your doing is making them more slippery <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

On street tires stay out of the water and dont do a large burn out. I normaly give the tires a small low speed spin just to get all crap off them.

I cut 2.0's all day on "NANKANG" brand radials. Believe me, you havent heard of that brand for a reason...they suck!

Re: Can't get M6 to hook-up at track On 'real' street tires, I used to only spin em enough to 'clean' the tires. When launching, I'd essentially dump the clutch off-idle, and let the great low-mid range power of the LS1 pull that rather poor first gear. This would produce almost no wheel spin, and consistent high 1.9 to low 2.0 60 fts. My 99 T/A did have a few minor suspension pieces, but I doubt they helped to any real degree in this case.

Re: Can't get M6 to hook-up at track If you have any sort of high perf tire out back, you just want to haze the tires, like Bob said. Big, long burnouts on an f1, gsc, firehawk... will just make them more slippery.
No more than 2000-2200 at launch should net you a low 2.0. I didn't find any less than 25 lbs in my f1's helped, cause the tires would "cup" at low pressure.

Re: Can't get M6 to hook-up at track I have to disagree with alot of people here.Normally a bunout on stock tires is a no-no.But from what I've found with the Firehawk tires is they need heat.This might not work for everyone,but it does for me.I found 25psi,A long burnout,and launching at 3000+ rpm gives me very consistant 1.95 60's.This is also on a car that weighs in at 3780lbs.
