TH400 Ultra bell
I just had one installed on mine by a reputable race trans shop. The case was clearanced nicely and was not hitting the ultra bell anywhere. Went to install in the car (Nova with BBC) and could not get it to slide over the left dowel pin, right side went on no problem. Ended up lightly running one bolt in on the left side and the trans seated against the block. Now the converter would turn freely but not pull forward and locate in the back of the crank.
I knew there was a misalignment issue and took it right back out. Then I took the ultra bell off the trans and test fitted it to the block with the same issue. It will not go over both dowel pins, it seems to be shifted slightly to the left side. Keep in mind, I've ran a stock GM case for years with no issues. I took the trans out to get freshened and install the ultra bell to have a legal flexplate shield.
I've read on another forum where people have had numerous fitment issues with these. I like the idea behind it, but am concerned with fit and long term reliability.

Thanks for everyone's input.
