Default Help needed w/technique - NO PREP race w/t56

Hey, I'm hoping some of you experts could give me help with my technique for my first no prep race this weekend...Can any of you give launch technique and make a suggestion on tire pressure and 2 step settings?

My set-up is as follows:
full weight 1996 Trans Am WS6...still with the LT1
455rwhp @ 6500rpm (still climbing) and 450rwtq @ 4750 rpm
t56 trans w/street twin clutch
All suspension mods but is lowered with Koni adjustable shocks
Hoosier 27-10.5-15 QTP's (brand new) w/skinnies up front
Lingenfelter 2-step

What launch RPM on the 2 step?
What tire pressure?
Side step the clutch or quick release?
Power shift?

The fastest I've been in this car was 11.5 @ 122 mph on radials but have made some changes since. I've never raced a no prep and don't get to the track often. I may do some "testing in Mexico" this week.

Your thoughts on this are appreciated...thanks.

Andy

I'd take it out on the street and make some passes on black top. Doubt a no prep track would be in worse condition then that. Maybe some one will chime in soon.

Test until you get it to where you think you'll be competitive.

Its not always the fastest car that wins, a to b wins a lot more than the fastest car.

I've never been able to side step the clutch on the street or a shittily prepped tracked. I have et street bias plys and have to slip the clutch a good bit. I'm all stock suspension though

What engine management are you going to be using?

Another viable option is a form of traction control (IE: Davis Technologies, BS3, Holly has a form I think, etc. Plot a graph and it'll pull timing (depending on how aggressive it's setup) in effort to keep D/S speed to the plotted graph. Obviously expensive and probably not a viable option for a daily driver type car.

haha at the prayer - if it gets loose, I'll just let out and the other car is likely way ahead at that point lol....thanks for the info guys. I'm not expecting to be very competitive - just trying to support the local racing scene as "class filler" being that there isn't much heads up street car stuff around these parts.

im going through the same pain this weekend for the first time. We're having a "single prep" cash race at the local track.

Im assuming you have more gear than me, meaning traction is more of a problem out of the hole. You also make more power.
I run 26x11.5x17 et streets and get away decently on the street leaving the 2step at about 4000rpm.

Just need to go out and try it over and over again.

around here the 6 speed guys always tend to do well against the much faster auto guys who don't know how to get down the road.

Just play with it until you're feeling good
