RMVB TH400 shifter setup?

RMVB TH400 shifter setup? Car came with a B&M hammer shifter (was a ford mustang so I assume it was setup for a C6). I have installed a RMVB TH400 now and am trying to figure out the linkages.
Is it as simple as unbolting the lever on the trans linkage and rotating it 180* so it faces up instead of down?
This is what the B&M tech told me, but it doesn't make sense to me. The only thing changing is the 123 is now 321. PRN will be in the same spots, so I don't see how flipping the lever 180* will make everything work?
This is my first Reverse manual valve body trans. Any tricks to this?
