Default Double check my ratios and the logic behind it

Morning everyone, So I am new to the LS world and have my first build going now. Quick rundown of what the build is...


-Honda S2000 RWD/2600lbs
-5.3 LM7 (ARP Studs, LJMS S2 Cam, BTR Valvetrain, LS9 Gaskets, Rings Gapped, Hone, basic stuff)
-S475
-Running on Ethanol goal is to make 800/800
-8.50 10pt cage
-Stock TH400 (eventually will build it but want the car running first)
-4 Link Rear/Shortened 9" Housing/Trac-Loc/31 Spline
-15x12 Weld Alumastars w/28x10.5W MT Bias slick
-15x4.5 Weld Alumastar 26x7.50 Bias ply sportsman skinnies


I am trying to figure out my rear end ratio and want to make sure my logic is sound.

Final Gear TH400 1.00:1
x
6000/6250/6500rpm limiter
x
175mph trap for mid 8`s
=
2.86/2.98/3.10 respectively for the limiter changes. What one should I go with? Also too the car will see a fair amount of street driving but don't want to sacrifice any 1/4 mile times for street comfort.

Where are you getting that you need to trap 175 to go mid 8s?You plan to launch that shitty? mid 8's is 160.0mph on a good sixty foot. Also, your calculations are not taking into account the converter slip. Lastly, you are going to do this big awesome mid 8 second build, and the first pass you go out there, you are going to blow your trans. Th400s are a very popular drag transmission, but everyone that uses them (Including me) has them built. th400 in stock form is only rated for like 450hp. The sprag is very weak in them, as well as the stock hub.

thanks for the response. I know the stock th400 won't last, I'm just getting the car going on it until I get a built one. As for the 175mph I know that's more like a mid 7 second pass but I would like to not be at peak rpm and speed at my 1/4 mile mark. So maybe 165mph is a better calculation. As far as converter slip goes how would it equate into this equation?

Can't comment on the gearing, but since I also have a Lsx s2000 I got some other insight

Good luck with not sacrificing street comfort in this car. I just touched 9s with irs in mine and its a total chore to drive slow

what aspect is a pain to drive?
