Default Shake down run at Cecil

When I say shakedown, I mean no dyno tuning, no shiftpoint tuning, and no suspension dial in. And unfortunately, Cecil was jammed and slow. Got a whopping 2 runs in.

New best, on a botched launch:

11.02 @ 122.46

Next week is dyno tuning. This car has lots left in it.

Joel, the converter should be a good choice for me once I get things together. As you know, this is a converter for those making power in the high rpms. Doesn't feel much looser on the street than the TP4400, but I did inch up in gear, also (4.11 to 4.30). Raugh didn't have much luck with this one, but I think I'll be able to prove it works with certain combos. I'm expecting consistent 1.4x, at least. We'll see.

As far as all the details guys, it goes like this.....VERY few people post their first time out with a new combo before tuning. I did cause I told a few people I would, and I keep my word. Give me a week or two to tune and learn my suspension, and you'll have all the info. Last year a little tweaking took my ARE/Rapidmotorsports H/C package from a 11.7x to a 11.1x. This season I have to learn the suspension as well as tweak/tune the motor. You guys know that takes a little time. Give me a few weeks.

Dave I wasnt implying u were hiding anything.U know I think your a stand up guy.

U take your time,I've gotten the harsh critics too. They dont understand it takes alittle bit to tweek a car.I KNOW u will run 10's.And I meant no dis-respect.Just curious

We're actually pretty close in the setup department if u aske me.

Is your UT a 4800? Or alittle smaller?
I was leaning towards a UY or UT too?

I'm taking about 70lbs outta the car next week
Kemeber -41,Hals -7,Juk padding -8,PS air bag -12,PS pump -4.But I added 5 so I think about 65 will be right.

Should get me down to about 3530???
Will see?

Visually, I think my shifts were around 6500. I want them at 6800-6900. Problem is, Edit doesn't handle 4.30's in an A4 correctly. So you need to fiddle with raising the points way beyond what the charts would have them at.

I tried to stall up to 3000 on the launch (have an UT4800 now) but that caused the car to lurch at the lights (thus my botched launch). First run I was probably at 2500, and had a 1.50 60'. But this car needs to be running at least 1.4x. Remember that I went from 100% stock suspension to almost 100% aftermarket. So there's lots to mess with before getting it dialed in.

Next time I'm going to try that converter from around 1500 and see what happens. I'm 100% convinced that my next pass, with raised shift points and a decent launch would have been 10's. But I had a 2 hour drive, the lines were long, and I still had four tires to change. Plus the air was getting thick (it rained an hour after I got home).

I don't want to overanalyse this run, cause it's not going to be representative of the car after tuning. It was purely a "see where we are" run.

JS:

Dave didn't even bother with ATAP, he just wanted to drive the car, so shift points were just eyeballed. They were just guesses to start out because Edit would not accept 4.33 gears with the correct tire size.

He was foot braking and muffed the launch stalling too high.

Mines the 4800.

You guys gonna be at Cecil on 5-11 (Fbody shootout) ? Would be cool to have some of us line up that haven't met at the track yet.

Good luck with the car.

I didn't say anything about his setup because he asked me to leave it quiet right now...

not trying to cause anything

just wanted people unfamiliar with Dave's car that this run was with a stock CID N/A setup since he didn't mention that
