is the rule on sub 10 second quarter mile times the necessity of a role cage?

You will need minimum 8pt cage, 5pt harness, helmet, and fire jacket.

There is a lot more than that. You will need to a competition license ,trans shield, several sfi approved parts, full fire suit, and I am sure there is more.

You are correct. What I meant by "minimal" is what the guy in the staging lanes will look for at local tracks. To compete in NHRA events with a full tech inspection, the list above is a good/expensive one

If the track is sanctioned by NHRA then they will abide by the NHRA rule book.

i believe 9.999 and slower on street legal & grudgefest nights all of that is not required, or maybe i'm reading it wrong ...

oh ok ... seems only 08' & newer are exempt if they are non-modified .... geez what 08' to 2017 cars are that fast stock other than a few hypercars & i guess a demon ???
