Question Looking to pick up a tenth and some MPH..

The car is running pretty consistant 11.66`s-11.68`s @ 113 to 116 MPH w/60`s in the 1.66 to 1.62 range. I`d like to get it in the 11.50`s (IHRA cage limit) and pick up a few MPH. Now I know the converter isn`t the most efficient and these 26x11.5-15 ET Streets are eating up some of these stock 3.23 gears (Shop that did my tuning said the car was deffinately running out of gear on the Dyno) So I`ve been thinking of picking up a 12 bolt with a spool and some 4.11`s. I`m pretty sure the 4.11`s will help me shave a tenth or so but what about MPH? Thanks in advance for any advise

For the record, the cam is a Comp XE-R 228/228 .588/.588

The first thing that I would do is put in more gear and a taller tire.

1st thing I would do is get a 12 bolt, spool, 4.11 gears and 28x10.5x15 slicks.

Your 60ft seems kinda week for TCI4400 and 323s , what is the altitude your running at, are you spinning out the hole. How can you run out of gear when you only have 323s, your car should be shifting at atleast 6500rpm or so . But i do agree with them above if you want to go faster taller tire and less gear. The nice benefit of an A4 car is the low mph we all get compared to the M6.

I can cut high 1.5s and low 1.6s on 26/10.5 ET streets with partial throttle with my TCI 3800 but I do have 342s.

You are right, my 60`s are not very good. In fact, I was pulling 1.68`s when I had just the converter, LT`s and 16" ET Streets! I have been spinning out of the hole a bit, mostly due to poor track prep, but I haven`t done too much to adjust in fear of breaking this 10 bolt. This 4400 hits pretty hard. My wordage was a little off when I said I was "running out" of gear. Really what`s happening is I`m not going through the traps in the power band. A shorter gear should (at least I think) put me back in the sweet spot, around 6400 instead of 5700 i`m at now. Is my thinking off base here?

sounds like a plan to me, you want to cross the traps at you shift point for optimal times

My shift points are set at 6350 1st to 2nd and 64002nd to 3rd , I go threw the traps at around 6100 with my set up, but I have 342s out back. you are crossing the traps at to low of a rpm like smokin said.

what rpm are u shifting the car at? also are u locking the converter?
