I gave it some thought last night, and I suggest that the owner check for a LS6 intake.

Some tracks will support 1.9's on OEM tires. Only a few though. A 1.9 will put a stock C5 into the 12's. 12.4? Better have some COLD *** AIR with that sticky track.

yeah, labannon valley in NY is not one of the tracks with that traction condition. And what type of air were you talking about, maybe zub zero air, like that found on the north pole maybe........

I'm a second witness to Slowhawk's 12.4 pass. He ran the tires @ full pressure and had a lid and a Zo6 catback at the time.

Not at lebannon valley dragway you didn't. That track will not support that on even the best day. At the valley, no slicks/drag radials, no 60 foot times/e.t's That's just the way that place is, probably dur to the fact that they really never have a huge event that requires killer track prep, and honda's don't do much in the way of laying down any useful rubber either.

I have never seen a 1.9 60ft on runflats. Thats pretty amazing if its true.

The only time I've done a 1.9 with my 295 Bridgestone's is when my clutch was going out. I launched at 5.5k and the tires didnt spin at all.

a 1.95, with a built in spin control device ( slippy clutch ) that's funney. Running a 1.9 on runflats is as good as a 1.9 on F1's. At the track I go to, that will never happen. At someof the good jersey, midwest and southern tracks that have excellent grip, maybe. A place like Englishtown or something, maybe I could pull that off, but at the valley, a good 60 ft for me has been a 2.2 but, that's all going away next spring, hell, it would go away now with the e.t. streets I picked up, but I'm not looking to hand grenade the 10 bolt in my car. Once the 12 bolt w/ 4.30's goes in, along with the clutch, and the drag shocks, and the frame connectors to stop my car from becoming a pretzel, 4000 clutch dump/1.8 60 foot times here I come. Should knock those 13.30's that I run at 108 + into the 12's....maybe even a 12.47 like some inchanted stock C5's do....

My friend has a Z06....bone stock EXCEPT the Varram air intake...stock exhaust, no other mods, stock F1 tires. He ran a 1.75 short time and a 12.0 at 116+ mph on an unprepped track (test and tune) in Muncie Indiana. Other Z06's that day were running 12.7+...driver makes a difference...but I have a hard time believing a stock C5 (non Z06) can run better than a 12.8 on our local track...probably not Bone Stock, may have some little mods or something. Nothing to get into a tizzy over.

That's very impressive! Our Z06 ran 110 bone stock. Even after fixing the IAT glitch, it only ran 11.98 @ 114 on a 1.75 60'. Heck, it took us 375rwhp to touch 116mph.

Apparently you've never seen an "unprepped" track. Our car runs ET's Streets, and on an unprepped track, it won't cut 1.75 at 15 PSI. Most Vipers and Z06's cut 2.2-2.3 60' times on street tires with good drivers.
I will give $50 to the first guy who cuts a 1.75 at Carlsbad on OEM tires, no matter what 2wd vehicle it is. Not even the best automatics with 3.73's can do better than 2.0.

Unprepped means you get no better traction at the track than on the street.

I'd like to see a Z06 that's only got an airbox run a 1.75 at our track. I'd like to race where he ran that, hell, if his car ran that, I could probably run 12's all day. Our speed shop dyno'ed a 2002 Z06 that had 6 thousland miles last week, the dyno chart was almost the same as mine, actually a little less (344 Hp, 350 Tq ) He was telling me that when he told the guy that a 2001 transam with longtubes, catback, airlid and a little tuning dyno'ed better, they guy got really pissed, and ordered a bunch of ****... That being the case, I' hould be able to run within 3 tenth's of it, only due to the weight/slight increase in aero drag. That's gotta be one hell of a track you got out there, got to have air denser than that found in the artic circle, and a tailwind of 20 mph at least to get a stock Z06 to 116. According to a slide rule calc, he would have to have about 430 Hp to the tires, (which no Z06 stock in history has dynoed) and providing that it weighed about 3200 with driver, which I imagine is a little in the low side, unless he is one of the little people.

I cut a 1.9 on a 245/16 Yokohama all season in my '98 F-Body. If I can do it on those it cam be done on stock tires in a 'vette.

I now cut high 1.6 on 255/50/16 BFG DRs.

This is at Byron Dragway in IL. This is not a spectacular track prep wise. Ask anyone who has raced there.

My cousin's neighbor's boss had a friend who saw a guy in Texas cut a 1.5 60' running 2 emergency spares on the back of a twin engine blown 2003 Firehawk. It was pretty awesome!

Those dyno #'s are low for a Z06.Mine did 357rwhp at 300 miles.I ran a 12.41@116.02 bone stock last year on factory rubber with 400 miles on it.I put ET Streets on it and went 12.002@115.69 after about 30 passes.Over the winter I did a 4.10 gear and CCW drag racing wheels with big and littles. My best time with current mods are in sig.I think I can run even better once I get the new clutch and master in.I have video and timeslips on these runs.DA was always 1500 +.

I hear everyone with he ran this and I saw that, I only know what I have seen, and that's not stock vette's running times like that. 422, I'm happy to hear that you have made some killer runs with your car, but I can tell you, memorial day weekend, I ran a guy with a 2002 Z06, he ran a 12.97 @109.16, I ran a 13.39@ 108.40. He got a slight jump on me out of the hole, and the gap stayed about the same the whole way down the track. Maybe there's something wrong with my ride, hell ,it's probably the driver, but I can't get that car to run anything better than a 2.25 60 Ft. I already did the control arms tq arm, PHB, all that, played with the pinion angle, etc, tried launching every possible way I can think of, just likes to spin. Now that I have a set of E.T. streets in my garage, that problem will go away. I never liked the idea of having to do anything out of the hole other than dumping the clutch, just seems wrong, but I gues that's why I can't do squat with the stock tires. But, after I get done with my winter project ( subframes, shocks, springs, 12 bolt w/ 4.30's, driveshaft, spec cluch, ripper shifter and shift light setup ) I expect the car to get into the 12's, with any luck, around 12.70, give or take. After all that stuff, I should be able to wind her up to about 4 grans, see the last yellow and side step the clutch peddle and slam the go peddle. That should result in 60 foot times that will be about 2 tenth's off what your vette's doing, but still enough to net 12 second passes. If I ever get around to installing the pulley setup that I have sitting here, I probably would dyno about the same as your vette did stock, probably more, but I just can't see the car running anywhere near 12 flat with that power. Too bad there's not more guys in my area that have these cars and actually go to the track with them, maybe then someone that has a ton of experience running them could tell me what the hell I'm missing. I've seen posts of guys w/ 6 speed cars and modssimilar to mine running in the 12's, always makes me wonder if it's our track or what. I've senone 99 transam with BFG's, 12 bolt/4.10's, spec clutch, maf, throttle body, longtubes/cutout and tuning run a 12.97 but that's the closest thing I've seen, and he was launching all out of shape because of a bad suspension setup, and no frame conectors, that car was flexing bad. Not really too much to be learned there. I'm sure all these times hat everyone posts are probably legit, or at least close to it, it just never seems to happen around here.

I think that's the first 2002 or later Z06 that made more torque than hp. If the guy with the Z06 doesn't know how to drive it , you might beat him. If he knows how to drive it , it will be more than 3 tenths. It sounds like you haven't seen too many well driven Z06's. With 350 miles on my car it ran 12.09@115.8. With just over 1500 miles at a track that wasn't as well prepped I ran 12.05@118.2. Two weeks later I dynoed the car to get a baseline : 340 rwhp / 334 rwtq. With bolt-ons I'm at 405 rwhp / 379 rwtq and I've run 122.7 mph. As with any stick shift car , the driver can make a huge difference.

Just for kicks my FIRST run ever w/32psi & 20k miles on my runflats with JUST a Borla catback (no air filter, intake, anything), I ran a 13.6 @ 106mph with an almost 2.3 60'. Remember that was my first time ever running my FRC. Another pewter 99 FRC with me there that night was cutting 1.89 60', he had Borla Stingers, Vortex intake, TPIS LTs, Xpipe with Random cats, and some big *** 315 DRs, and he was running 12.34 @ 114.3...Food for thought

Our track sucks, its nearly 1000 ft above sea level and no prep at all on Wednesday test and tune....I have run 1.74 on BFG COmp TA in my vette, 1.56 on 315 DR's, and 1.8 in my Camaro on SUmitom, 1.68 on DR's in the camaro...

116 is not 430 at the wheels, your math is wrong...stock Z06's put down about 365 rwhp on a dyno jet and typically run 113-117 mph. How and when you shift makes a difference on mph on these cars, my friend also ran a 113 I believe that same night on a 1.9 short time. His car does seem a LOT faster than other Z06's I have personally seen, and his only mod is the Varram air intake. He has beaten a couple of 03/04 CObras with mods that put them right at 500 rwhp. Diving makes a huge difference, he is willing to use the clutch and launch at 4500+ rpms on the street slipping it a little. He is a little fella as well, probably 140-150 lbs.
