Default The perfect torque converter..

Let's say for example a car makes peak torque at 4000rpm.. What would be the ideal converter? A 3600?, a 4000?, or a 4400? Basicly should you get a converter that flash lil before, at, or a lil past peak torque???

I have heard that you want the converter to stall about 1500 from your shift point and drop 800-1000 rpms between the shifts. I am guessing that the converter manufacturers are trying to get the most avg horsepower in the range the converter is working through. I would love to know the science on how the converter manufacturers can get a car to stall 1500 from your shift point and keep the rpms from dropping too much or not enough.

I run a 5000 PTC 8" converter, shift at 6200. Car has been 1.399 60' making 398 rwhp. Make sure you get the "right" converter. Call a good converter company and take there advice.

Agree, get a custom built converter, not one of those off the shelf parts.
