Congrats Jenibella !!!
On Sunday 6-27-04, we attened the 3rd annual Manufacturers' Cup Drag Racing Challenge held at Irwindale Speedway (1/8 mile track). This race is setup in four team, Ford vs. GM vs. Mopar vs. Wild Cards, wild card are mixed combination cars or cars that were closed to the other teams. We were such a car, GM was closed to more entries. It is a bracket type race where you run the other teams hoping to earn points for your team, no one is knocked out of competition. But, if you win three races, you are eligible to enter in the final for top driver honors. We had alot of good runs, all in the 8.0 index. First run, we are up against Mopar and we are the first set of cars to go out in competition ... everyone is watching !!! She beats the Mopar no problem. Next up is GM ... and a low 6 second car (runs mid 9s in the 1/4 mile). She gets a .518 reaction and runs an 8.000 on an 8.0 index. This makes her the #1 qualifier for the finals. They choose the finals that have three wins by the best 'packages' ... how much off the index plus how much off a perfect light ... her's was only in the reaction which equals a .018! The next best was a .047 and up. The final point we need was against a Ford, he almost looses it trying to catch her. In the finals, we are paired up against another wild car that runs 7.99 (a '64 Nova). Like most other races there, he had been keeping an eye on Jenibella ... in hopes of her not making, since she was running excellently. With the help of my new PerformAire predictor, I was able to keep Jenibella on her dail-ins. In the final, I dail her at 7.97, the other guy is at 7.99. They do their burnouts and stage. The tree copmes down, both launch at the same time ... they are glued to each other all the way down and the winner is .... the other guy. I swear I have never seen such a close race, not even in NHRA! The timeslip read like this:
Him
Dail = 7.99
RT = .546
60' = 1.81
660' = 7.993
MPH = 88
Her
Dail = 7.97
RT = .596
60' = 1.68
660' = 7.972
MPH = 86
They other guy won it in the reaction. Well at least she got second place and $500. But she was honored with the "Best Effort Award" by the San Gabriel Tribune, the track and event coordinators ... and she also won an autographed Bud King jersey by Kenny and Bradon Bernstien! WOW what a great day ... and final race! Everyone spectating was on their feet. Videos of the four races and her receiving her awards can be seen on our website, under videos and Camaro SS.
