Question about light weight carpet?
Is it 10lbs lighter?
Terrys car looks good but I dont know if I wanna get involved in that project.I talked to LS1 speed and there stuff only saves 18lbs total?
I figured If I can remove 10lbs and just reuse my own carpet that would suffice for me.
Oh yea I found out the power steering cooler and lines with fluid and bracket weighed 5lbs. I was shocked.I wanna keep my PS becasue IMO it blows driving the car like that. And I dont need the cooler even if I hook the PS up so its gone.
Between that and the JUK if I could remove 15 to 18lbs that would be outstanding.

Needs weight of the underside of the carpet.
Here is what I am doing and it is free (and saves 30 pounds)
"backhalf" the carpet
Below the rear seat cushions cut the carpet in half. This is easily removable at the track and saves about 17 pounds approx.
Remove the front half of your carpet and tear off all sound insulation etc. trim it and replace it.
The remaining carpet (front half) should weigh in at less than 8-10 pounds and look stock.
You can leave the sound deadening in the back half of the carpet as you remove it at the track only. This way you have sound deadening in normal driving and lightweight at the track.
And its FREE and easy to do <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Cheers,

You should be able to get 10 pounds of insulation off the bottom of the carpet, and atleast 10 in sound deadning from around your feet.
The power steering COOLER,the line and the fluid plus the bracket is 4.8lbs.I'm keeping the PS pump on in case I wanna hook it back up.
I decided to try and remove the JUK and all the little BS under the carpet and around the front of the wells. Its gotta be 10Lbs and I feel thats more than enough of a loss.Plus my stock carpets look ALOT better than that light flimsy stuff.I did some weight calculations today too.
Who knows maybe for the FIRST TIME with MY FAT GUT behind the wheel the car will weigh a true 3500lbs?
