Default Which Stiff Sidewall tire, M6

Been out of the game for a while as far as drag racing, and there have been quite a few tire changes since the last time I bought a set.

I have 15x8 (5.5 BS) wheels, so whatever tire choice needs to fit that rim.

My local track will not allow a full slick on the normal test and tune days for 1/4 mile heads up passes, so I need a "DOT" approved tire. Previously (05/06) I had used MT ET Streets that were siped and marked DOT, and that style is still "ok".

The rest of my setup is in my signature. Actual part number would be appreciated for the specific tires you all recommend.

Thanks in advance.

Jon

Hoosier!! If you below 500 rwhp I recommend you stick to a 26" tire.

I am definitely under 500 N/A, but spray is a possibility in the future. Hoosier Qucktime DOT? DOT Pro? that's where I am getting mixed up. Mickey also has similar options, not sure where to go and why I asked for specific part numbers. Thanks

Hoosier tires tend out hook a M/T from what I've seen on a M6 car no matter if it was a drag radial tire, D.O.T, full slick etc.....

Hoosier QuickTime Pro is a great dot tire for manual trans car. 26 inch tall with 4.10 gears. I'd recommend a 28 tall tire and more gear if you are trying for a little more max effort.

I ordered a set of these this weekend to replace the old M/T bias ply's on my GTO. I've heard good things.

Thanks fellas, I'm leaning toward a 28, not only for the "look" but because if I do decide to spray it or this stock Motor goes south I'll at least be one up of tire selection for the next setup. I'm not out to set any f-body records....my budget is eclipsed by anything "fast" these days.

The taller tire will help. With that gear if you are really getting after it, launch 5500+ rpm. I'd recommend the limiter lol. But do what your budget will allow for sure!

I'm NOT scared to launch it, all depends on the track. I let my last car ('99 in sig) go off the line off the limiter at 7200....

That's the thing, Id hate to buy 26's, and find myself upgrading sooner than later and have to spend another bunch of $ on different size tires.

Any fitment issues with stock wheel wells and Hoosier QTP Pros in 28x11.50? I'm sure I will have to massage the fender wells a bit.

They aren't particularly large, some slight inner massaging and you're good to go!

you will not be disappointed with the hoosier 28" bias ply. miles ahead of the equivalent mickey thompson street e.t. you will want to run tubes to stiffen up the sidewall a bit though

I run a 28x11.5x15 but it could be a 10.5, honestly I can't remember in Hoosier QuickTime Pro on my c5z. I launch it but with my setup I am going to switch back to a 26in tire
