Default HARDCORE Drag Racers within!!!!

I need some help......
Here's my data and I want recommendations....

H/C car A4/4.10's 26in slicks (Peak HP 6150 carries to 6400/Peak TQ 4700)
Launch Car 2500
Flash vert 4300
1/2 shift 6100---->Verter dropped back to 5300 (800rpm)
2/3 shift 6400---->Verter dropped back to 5400 (1000rpm)
Cross traps at 6200

Run 2
Launch 2900
Flash vert 4400
1/2 shift 6200/5500---->(800rpm)
2/3 shift 6400/5400---->(1000rpm)
Cross traps at 6300

My question is ,What should I be shifting this car at guys
It peaks at 6100 but carries it to 6400.

2nd
My peak tq is 4700,I believe this verter is right on the money for flash(4300/4400)and dropping in between shift (800 to 1000)?Am I correct in my thinking?

3rd
Where should I shoot for going threw the traps for max et according to my peak power?

4th
Is a 26in slick gonna be enough,or should I run a 27in?

Need info........

IMHO, 6500 rpms minimum for peak performance. peak tq really isnt an issue to big stall convertors i feel. even at your raceweight, i think a 26" tire is gonna be fine. just fine tune it and 1.49 should be on your doorsteeps. i would shoot also for 6400-6500 through the traps. probably still nice and safe at that rpm. also try to stall that convertor as close to 3K rpms as possible. it is a 4200 stall right?

Yes the verter is a 4200,Seems to flash right at 4200 /4400.Drops back no more than 1000 which IMO is perfect.I was thinking 122 mph should be right around 6500 which again would be perfect for my 26in slick.

6500 it is then for the shift points.
Thanx....

Steven,Coach,Raugh,Bob anyone else have an opinion?

I would say shift 6500-6600 for your best bet. You are falling to far down away from the power when you are dropping to 5400rpm. To see for sure you would want a dyno to see if the later shift is less of a drop off than the low rpm I would guess it is.

I have a very similar combo. Also on 26" slicks. I shift at 6800 and cross at 6800 - 6900.

I agree with this as well. Try to cross the traps at about 300-400rpm past your power peak. No need to spin it to the moon if you want the motor to live a long time.

I think you just need to fine tune the suspension/tire pressure and you'll hit low 11's.

I would think if I bump BOTH shifts up to 6500 it wont drop lower than 5600rpm which should be fine for my combo.I need to get my shift points bumped up,and try and go over the traps at 6700.I'm staying w/26in boots,they should be perfect for my combo.

Time to take some more weight out of the car

I love this setup..
6500 MAX shifts and no worries about revving it to the moon.

Pipster I love the new name...
Your funny bro...

JS,

Stall that sucker up as high as it will go without pushing through the brakes. When I stage the car. I get on the convertor until I feel the *** end comes up. I hold until I see the 3rd yellow come on then I nail it.

You need to make both your shifts at 6,500 to 6,700 rpms. Set your shift light at 6,400 rpms and go for it Brother.

Try my advise, I think you will dig what happens.

Good luck.

Coach

I thought you had a trans-brake?

How about this: set your 2-step at 3500, hold the trans-brake, release - wouldn't this actually flash your converter (if it was say a 4000 stall) to 4300?

Well if I had to guess I'd say the car is 3550lbs but I'l get u an exact weight this week.

I figure 340 (ME) and 3200 for the car but lately I've been thinking the cars heavier than that with me out of it.

I want 11.40's out of it in high Da's...With my mild setup (Cartek LS6 S2/224-580) that would make me happy,I'd run low 11's in good air and just be a cam change from the 10's..

With a transbrake,hold the button and put the gas to the floor.(This will show you true stall.) let go of the button on the third yellow.

I shift 6900-7000ish.
Everyone says " your engine will not live long shifting that high".
I have over 225 passes shifting that high.Probably 100 LAUNCHING that high when
I had the M6.

So don't listen to me, I don't know what I am doing.

Yah stall up the Yank as high as you can and shift as high as necessary, I'd adjust shift points until the car stops gaining. I'm sure 11.4@118mph will happen next time.
