Default Horrible ET times

Ok,

I went to LACR, (LA County Raceway) over here in Palmdale, California. It is at over 2000 ft above sea level. With all my mods listed below, i was hitting 14.1 constantly. i was lanching well, but my 60' times were'nt so good (2.6) Anyone know how much of an effect that elevation has on the times? The track's website says to subtract .6 from the time to get the real one, but some say a full second. So if i was to subtract .6, it would be a 13.5 second run. Is this even good for the mods I have listed in my sig? I was hoping for 13.2 (13.8 at these tracks). Can anyone gime tips on how to make my 60' times lower? I did do the burnout in the water and everything. And by the way, my fasts run wasn't even a good launch. I peeled out for like 20 feet and still hit a 14.105. I was racing an SS stock tha hit 14.9.

Any input would be appreciated.

You can subtract .3-.4 ths. The tracks elevation is 2700'. It sounds like you need better tires!

You need to get the 60' lower.Did you drop the tire pressure to at least 20 psi?

dropping the tire pressure on street tires doesn't really help. The water box hurts because water gets in the tread and hampers launch. Street compound rubber tends to get slimy rather than sticky when overheated, so a long burnout (other than to haze the debris off the tires) is only going to wear your tires out faster. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Try driving around the water box, then reversing back into it, this saves getting water in the front tyre tread. Stage as soon as you can after that, to maintain higher heat temps. Track prep and track TEMP play a big factot also. If above 115 degrees track temp (surface of startline), then cohesion (grip) factors off dramatically... I took my car there bone stock and ran 14.03 with the stock tires. I didn't bother with the burnout box, because that just kills your stock tires. It's only worth it if you have drag radials or slicks. I can't remember what my 60' times were, but I am anxious to see what I run now with and SLP Lid, TSP catback and !FRA mod. I imagine, I should be 3-4 tenths quicker. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

dont use the water box at all....its COMPLETELY pointless with street radials. drop tire pressure to about 25 psi. when you burn out, simply spin the tires a few times to kick the rocks off. DO NOT heat them. it doesn't help either. if you see smoke in your mirrors you're burning out too long for those tires.

if you really want to improve your 60 foot times, get drag radials. they will work MUCH MUCH better. it'll more than likely feel like night and day to you. drop those to around 18 psi, drive through the water if you want. (to all those who are going to flame me for this, i've NEVER had water kick up with nittos in the waterbox.) when your rear tires are in the water, blip the throttle quickly just to turn them over and coat them, then pull up just out of the water and burn the ever loving hell out of them! they hook like glue for me! good luck man.

I have run at LACR then California Speedway back to back on two different occations. On both occations i was .6 and 3mph faster at California. Not only does the altitude at LACR kill your times, but the crappiest track prep EVER also kills your 60'. Don't be too discouraged. Hit up Irwindale and work on your 60's and reaction times. California Speedway is a nice track, it will just take 8 hours to make two runs. Irwindale has the most KICK *** track prep i've seen. Cut my best 60' and best 1/8 at Irwindale.
