How I lost 100 pounds in two easy weeks
I weighted my stock Z28 hood/hardware at ~50#, and I'm hoping my new Glasstek pin on hood with hardware will come in at less than 20#. (its due in two weeks).
I also ordered the Aerospace Components front drag race brakes (35-40# savings), which are due in two weeks as well.
I'm thinking about the Aerospace rear brakes, but I'll have to call and check the weight savings first.
I also put flanges on my catback so I can drop the catback/ypipe at the track, or at home first when I get a trailer. Another 30# there.
All in all I'll be saving another ~100# off the car, most of it off the front end. I wonder what the nay-sayers will say when I actually get down to 3200#. More 50 shot accusations? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> It's not like I ran 10.67 and have never backed that number up again since or anything. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
My new head/cam package is still in the works. I'm hoping to pick up another 20rwhp with it.
Terry, Since your pulling money from the tree, have you already done a k member and A arms?

I'm pretty much out of weight reduction mods after the brakes/hood/catback. I'll be right at 3200# raceweight. How do these guys get down below 3000#? It must take some $erious work!
Congrats Terry, I hope your car will run 10.5 after the weight reduction and new heads/cam. I also like the fact that you mentioned the price of losing 100# right off the bat, some poeple here like to pretend that weight redcution is easy and doesn't cost a lot
</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No kidding. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> Hey so how much were your headers? I forgot you had the 1 7/8"s. Do they fit OK? 3" collectors?
I just got a fiberglass hood last week. Every little bit helps.
But the brake thing....man, I dont know.
How safe would they be on the street?

I'm glad you're testing some of this stuff. If it works out ok, I'll be game before our trip to Houston. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Few bolts, slide the cable out and your done. I did the foglights, cruise control and AIR pump in around an hour in my driveway I think.
Cheers,
Chris

See ya at the Dyno Day at MMS, hopefully.
