M6 car with basic bolt-ons; track has zero prep so my 60' times are pretty
I need a streetable tire that will fit the stock rims - are Nittos all that good? Anybody know of anything better? I can't swap wheels at the track and I still have to be able to negotiate the turns - I used to have M/T street slicks on my Grand National and cornering was pretty scary with them!

Anybody have any experience with BF Goodrich Comp TA Drag Radials?
The guys here tell me I should buy a pair of 15" lightweight rims and 26x10x15 either ET Streets or slicks, but there remains the slight problem of getting to and from the track on tires that aren't designed for highway driving

Dave it is the norm to get 15 inch rims for better traction for the tire. I purchase MT ET slicks on convo pros (15 by 8 1/2) for better traction. Convo pros require no spacer on them in rear and is much easier to install. In my humble opinion, generally your times will be more consistent with the slicks than with tires such as Nittos or equal. However, there a few people who do run good times with Nittos, but for us general drivers including me, the slicks will most likely be more consistent and stable. The Nittos require a big and long burnout before launch. I live 25 miles from the local track in my area and I drive my car to and from track with slicks on and just install skinnies at track. If your budget does not permit new slicks and wheels, then by all means get Nittos or equal. If go with Nittos on stock wheels used the 16 instead of size 17--they say the 16 is better for traction because of more sidewall (same reason for 15). If you already have size 16, then get Nittos or equal and you can drive on street and track. I ran Nittos for a year and a half and ran some decent 60'times (average somewhere around 1.70). Best on Nittos was 1.63. The best air pressure for Nittos on street is 24 to 26. At the track, start air pressure at 20 and come down in increments of 1 or 2 until you find the sweet spot for that day. I hope this helps.
