Default My street build

I have gone through a few cars lately but haven't been happy with them for one reason or another. I had a very clean 2002 SS Camaro but didn't want to tear into it because it only had 13k original miles(talk about mint!). So I sold it and found this very clean, 6 speed, 44k original miles, 2000 SS SLP with some bolt ons already and decided this was the one to make my own.

The car had a Futral F11 cam, SLP headers with 3 inch full exhaust, subframe connectors, sway bars and boxed control arms.

I started by replacing the always dangerous stock 10 bolt with a Moser 9", 35 spline axles, full spool, 4.11 gears. I narrowed it 2.5" per side too. Can't do rear end and not do driveshaft so I went with a PST 3.5 to make sure I wasn't going to twist it. Since the rear end was out we dropped the tank and replaced the stock fuel pump with a Racetronix 255 with hotwire kit. To finish the rear I replaced the stock shocks with QA1 double adjustable shocks.

Also upgraded to a Tick Performance master cylinder and Monster single disk stage 3 clutch.

Once that was done, I had to slowly collect parts until I had most of what I wanted to do with the car. I bought some 243 heads and had them hand ported by a friend. Also added FAST 102 intake, WARR Performance TB, Deatschwerks 60lbs injectors, BTR LS3 stage 3 cam kit, trunion upgrade, Nitrous Outlet 102 plate kit, LNC2000, ARP head bolts, and AEM wideband gauge. Also did a BMR short torque arm.

I really like the looks of the Jegs SSR Spikes(go ahead, flame away). I rather put the hard earned money on go fast parts so I went with 15x8 with 28" Nitto Drag radials and 17x4 fronts with Mickey Thomson radials. This is how she currently sits:

I still have to do front coilovers, line lock and a two step. <ight end up adding stuff but that is my short term list. Then hit the track and shoot for mid 10's on 150 shot. Should hit the track mid next month as I have to travel next week. Will update results.

That's a very clean car. So what did you end up running at the track?

I had a few new build bugs with suspension and the battery shortening. I was working them out and I am wating on an extra set of wheels to mount some MTs so I can go back and try it again.

Thank you sir. I always wanted to "build" a clean do it all car since I can't afford multiple toys. 😁

Thanks, I've always wanted these but I spent my money on performance parts first. The Jegs looked good and that's all I could afford at the time but this combo is what I really wanted.

You absolutely nailed the stance with the right tire size. How wide are those back tires? It looks like a perfect fit for the car.

The rear is a 9" narrowed 2.5" per side. The wheels are 15x8.33 4.5bs. Yes I could've fit 10" wheels but I refuse to cut and and hammer the inner body. I put my family in it and we go cruising and there is no rubbing either. Perfect for me!

I had the line lock and ABS delete installed so I am not punishing my brake pads.

I didn't to drill any holes anywhere to mount the swtch so my buddy came up with this pretty cool idea, finish using it and slide it under the seat.

I also made a bracket to hold the battery. This was one of my issues at the track. The battery will move and short with the AC dryer bracket.

Now I have to find where the exhaust is rubbing with the body. I think I found it but I have to inspect further. I have an extra set of wheels and Mickey Thompson radials on the way. Should be hitting the track before it gets too hot

I finally had the car on a dyno and id did pretty close to what I expected. Mike Murillo and Scott Taylor cleaned up the tune and the car produced 447whp/412tq on motor. Then they put 61/29 jets on the Nitrous Outlet plate (rich/safe) and the numbers jumped to 540whp/473tq. They could've got more with more aggressive jets but I am happy to keep it on the safe side!
