Almost 10's on drag radials with first outing in Project SS
Ive been waiting to go the track on the new motor setup for the project SS almost 2 weeks now. Its been raining like crazy down here, every day
Well it rained today as usual, but cleared up about 2:30. Decided at the last minute 5:00, to go. Drove the car to "Skate Capital" in FULL street trim, and only mod at the track was open cutout and front skinnes. Pulled up at the track at 6:28 and made the first pass at 7:08 (no cool down time).
Weather conditions sucked
81.6 degress
81 % humdity
29.89 baro--- for a DA of 2374
All passes were on DRAG RADIALS with weight at 3470, full exhaust, front HAL shocks at 5 clicks. Wanted to get a rough idea of how it runs like its driven everyday
First pass (cut out closed)
60' 1.822 (spun like crazy)
1\8 7.556 @ 96.64
330' 5.007
1000' 9.732
1\4 11.55 @ 123.89
Best pass, last round of eliminations. Opened the cutout.
60' 1.808 (still spun)
1\8 7.446 @ 97.73
330' 4.948
1000' 9.618
1\4 11.425 @ 125.62
--still ran 125+ even hitting the 7400 rev limiter right at the traps.(4.30 gears)and spinning when hitting 2nd gear. Pulls like an animal on the big end
Ran a 11.425 on a 11.42 dial in and came home with a fist place trophy in street comp
Also this was preliminary tuning, no dyno #'s and only 220 miles on the motor More track times with slicks and race setup soon, good 10 sec passes in the summer here I come
New mods:
-FMS 346 forged bottom end
-FMS stage 2 LS6 heads (2.055"\1.60")
-FMS street solid roller (233\233 .629\.629 112)

Nice results! Your solid roller setups are very impressive, but I think your heads deserve more credit.

I had a hard time getting it to hook at SCD, couldn't leave much over 3500 RPM's.The motor\car is setup to leave at 6000+ RPM.
Will be going to NPR soon and make a couple more drag radial and slick passes in race mode
What is your best ET\MPH on drag radial's ?
I should be finished with a customer's solid roller 432 in a couple of weeks for a 2001 Trans-Am. Can't wait till I go to the track in that thing
I ran 11.33 @ 124 mph on Nittos with my old 382ci setup, pushing 3595 lbs at the time, weather was in the mid 70s. I think I can run some 10.8s on radials with this setup, because I had a few spinning launches on slicks (mid 1.7X 60' range) and still ran 10.8s when I went last time. I used to cut low 1.7X short times on nittos, should still be able to do so.
Good luck at the track tomorrow! Take my temporary record down and motivate me to put the Cannibal on a diet

JS: Thanks and I just love solid rollers and with as streetable as mine is thats the way Im going to stay. The mid-range torque and upper rpm pull is awesome.
Bruce: Thanks and it WAS nasty last night
Kent: Thanks and should know about the 10's maybe as soon as next week
