Default Bumper Supports

My new setup may or may not see any street driving. If it does it will be very very little and none in the rain. The car is equipped with a 10 pt chrome moly cage and subframes with crossbracing. Do you think removing the bumper supports is a good or bad idea? Also about how much weight do they save. I think I seen around 80 lbs for both but I'm not sure.

Thanks

Both bumper supports are 40#. They don't do much for you unless you're in a low speed crash.

The Derek H,

My set up does not see to much street use and I do not have my bumber surports on the Hot Rod now. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

As Mike Hoffpauir said: <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />
Front bumper support=17lbs.
Rear bumper supports=15lbs.
This is with all the hardware.
It is off my 2002 M6.

as long as you don't confuse the bumper supports with the bumper impact bars themselves

Bumper supports are kinda like Terry Burger, but he is a athletic supporter.

Many people say "well im only going to drive it a little, and i'll be careful."

But the last time i checked, most people don't plan their wrecks. And it doesn't matter how careful we are if there are alot of people out their that shouldn't even have a license.

I personally think they are there for a reason, but to each his own.

Are you guys sayin g the styrafoam in the front of the nose weighs 17-20 lbs? Or are you guys talking about both the styrofoam and steel bumper?

What about the rear bumper too? Is it just the honeycomb stuff or the bumper too?
