Default Boys & Girls, I have a new race motor!

First off, I want to thank Thunder Racing for the new motor.

Special thanks to Jason and Shane for putting the motor in on Thursday.

Here are the specs on the new motor:
LS6 block
3.905" Diamond forged pistons (2cc valve reliefs)
Oliver 6.125" rods
stock, polished crank
JE 3.905" rings
Federal Mogul rod and main bearings
GM cam bearings
TR ported LS6 oil pump
Comp adjustable timing set

GTP stage 2+ truck heads, milled .050" (2.02/1.57)
Thunder Racing 242/236 .608/.600 104lsa (108 ICL)
Comp "OEM" replacement lifters
TR 7.350" pushrods
stock rockers

Last night we went to Angleton Dragway (I have never been there before) to make some shake down runs. Well, not really, I was there to bracket race.

1st run off the trailer she went 6.87 @ 100.13-Da 3276
2nd pass she went 6.80 @ 100.4-DA 3212
3rd pass she again went 6.80 @ 100.67-DA 3041

1st rd of elims Kayle dialed her in at 6.78. I went around him in the lights and got off it and ran 6.82 @ 96.75

2nd rd Kayle dialed her in at 6.77. I ran a 6.77 with a 1 and the other guy ran a 7.22 with a 6. I did get out of it right at the stripe.

3rd rd we dialed her in at 6.75 and I run a 6.78 @ 98.25 on and off the gas pedal. I drilled the other guy on the tree.

Semi's I ran Jay Robinson. I was really looking forward to this race. Jay is leading the points at HRP. I dialed a 6.75 and broke out with a 6.74 with a 5 @ 101.01 mph. Jay ran dead on. A 7.18 with a 0 @ 95.56 mph on a 7.18. It was hard to dial her at this point because I hadn't gotten to run a race full out since the time trials. Being that this is a new motor, I just wasn't sure how fast she'd go. Well, from the race against Jay, I found out a little too late. And, I think she's still got some faster times in her because I was on the rev limiter a little at both shifts. Oh well, thats bracket racin.

The last run looked like this:
Temp 78
Humidity 99
Baro 29.86
DA 2339
60 ft 1.45
330 4.31
1/8 ET 6.745
MPH 101.01

Not too bad for the 1st time at the track with a brand new motor.

Next week we're headed to HRP for 1/4 mile times.

damn nice times for the gross DA! +3000 feet is terrible, just think when you are in -1500 or better Houston wintertime air! also, that cam ground on a 104 lsa??? wow! even with that 108 ICL, still a THUMPER of a cam.

interesting that they are still sticking with the reverse split cams.

Hey Coach, I was there last night at the track. The Black SS on Drag lites. I also have a video of your car from the track last night. Your car was running good, even though it was hot and humid weather.

About time you got the bullet in there! Happy to hear she's running strong. I look forward to seeing some 1/4 mile times soon.

And beating you down the track.

I'm just curious to why you went with the reverse split cam over a traditional split cam. Aren't reverse split typically for blown motors? Or am I wrong...

Great numbers either way!

Congrats Coach!!

Nice to be cracking 100 MPH in the 1/8 on shakedown runs

Also look like your new setup is pretty consistant right out of the box. That motor is going to slowly get faster every week, don't forget to dial down a little Happened to me this past Saturday, broke out bad hehe.

Thanks again everyone. I really dig my new set up.

Andrew,
I am trying to talk my wife into letting me run Sunday at TAD. They are running for big money($2,500.00 to win) in both Top Et and N/E. I will run ya Brother!

Jason,
Thanks again for all the help man.

Ferocity02,
Thunder Racing choose the cam. All I told them was, I want to go fast and make over 300 passes with this new motor.

CamaroCain,
I will be at HRP Saturday running in the points race. You should come out and run your car. They have TnT along with our bracket race. The track prep is always they best at our point races.

Coach

Congrat on the new motor

What converter are you running now? What was your 60's?

Great times. A little better air and it really picks up. Thunder Racing tuned?

Again congrats.

David
