Cam only stalled LS1 tire set up
I’ve got a 02 TA cam only 3600 yank and bolt ons. The car will be used as a bracket car (always was before cam and stall). It had no problem hooking on 275 40 17 nittos but now on the street it won’t begin to hook up sometimes even from 40mph. The owner still has stock ws6 wheels but is willing to swap to whatever is needed. What would be needed to hook this set up at a minimum? Anybody getting away with just new nt555r or does he need to be looking at a 15” set up. I live in the M6 world.

When I had a SS3600 and a mild cam my Toyo DRs cut a 1.7 with stock gears. I broke out so I couldn't see if I could do any better. Back then the Toyo provided better grip than those Nittos IIRC. That was with a heavy *** 17x11 aftermarket ZR1 wheel and 17x9 ZR1s in the front

I would look at two tire setups. A drag pack and street setup. I run Hoosier QTPs on my Racestar drag pack and ill be switching to a Mickey ET Streets for my street tires. The reason for this is you need a tire that is guaranteed to hook every time bracket racing not something you've been driving around on the street. I cut consistent 1.55 60' on this tire with just bolt-ons and same converter in street trim(full interior, a/c, etc.) just change my wheels at the track and go.
P.S. I run the QTPs at 30psi no inner tube

It’s going to need some adjustable shocks, and relocate the rear control arms on the rear downward, put some angle in them so it hits the tire.
15 inch drag wheel package will drop a pile of weight and then gives you all the tire choices... just make sure you put some good studs in the back the stock ones won’t like a good tire for long, they will bend/break, and with a good light whee you’ll need the shank lug nuts and they need to protrude out of the lug nut

I run 16psi cold on my qtp's on the street no tubes, haven't had any issues. They hold air well. Any more psi and they just don't contact the road all the way across the tread. Running 16-17psi cold, my car can dead hook on rough bitumen roads when the tires get warm enough. When I try run more air they spin. Plus the car drives better (and moves around less at the top of 3rd) with 16psi in the tires somehow, than it does with 22psi or more in them....(which I don't get, but I go with what works)
