Default ST3500 kicked butt at the track tonite

I knew I was gonna set a new best, but it was still a good tenth faster than I expected..

Raceweight was ~3550

First pass on Nittos I met my goal for the night. Spun to a 1.950 60', 8.26@86.5 mph. Left the line at about 13-1400.

Tried another pass on the Nitto's, got them nice and hot, tried leaving the line at around 1000 to get a little more flash out of it, even the hot nitto's wouldnt hold. 2.05 60' spinning quite hard.

Went to the pits, Bolted up the ET streets, 17psi. Let her cool for about 20-30 mins and made a pass. Pretty decent burnout, not too big. Waited til I saw smoke and counted to 4.

60' 1.822
330 5.303
594 7.658
1/8ET 8.17
1/8mph 86.2

Not bad not bad <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Backed it up later on when the air cooled off some with an 8.19@86.0 (1.83 60')with 2 peeps in the car.

Picked up a solid 4 tenths over last week (8.56@86 was my best on Nitto's) with the only change being the converter. Tire's too, but I ran slower on the ET streets than I did the nittos then.

Still have some room to work with on the 60's as is. What do you ST3500/bolton cars cut for 60s?

In the Sig...Although I do have a Cam. Im on HOosier DRags. GEt Drags to take full advantage of this converter, unless your track preps REALLY well.

I had i believe 15 psi in the tires, brought it up to 2300 and let it rip <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Anything under 2K, and the car would spin badly off the line.

Good to see your happy with the converter. Keep practicing, practicing, practicing. You'll find your sweet spot.

I used to have an ST-3800 and with basic bolt-ons and ET Streets I would usually pull mid-high 1.6's. It was a very good TC.

Most of my friends with the 3500 pull 1.65-1.70.

I found it best to launch around 2500 for my setup.

I used to have an ST-3500 and cut a best 60ft. of 1.51. Take out some weight and do the usual bolt-ons. Combine that with some ET Streets or slicks and you'll get those 60fts. to drop.

Set some more new bests tonite, but still not getting anywhere near what 60's you guys are cutting. Best tonite was:

60' 1.78
1/8 8.09
1/8 mph 86.5
1/4 12.69
1/4 mph 108.2

Keep in mind my only other "Performance" mods are a lid/LT's/ORY/Catback.

Do have some basic suspension mods. Eibach Pro-kit (no LCA relocators), Competition Engineering subframes, home boxed LCA's and Panhard. Pulled the swaybar and STB for a little more weight transfer.

How does that 60' look considering my mods?

FWIW, I was on 26x11.5 (16 inch) ET Streets

nittos will hold <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> hows yourn burnout??

i go around the water and back into the edge of it
heat them up for 3-4 seconds there, let off brake and ease ahead like 5-6ft then put on the brake again and roast them there for like 3-4seconds, thennnnnnn burn them up to the line..

doing this and with 19psi in them i generally cut 1.62's, with a best of 1.58's on 245/50/16 nittos <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

also, check your tire pressure after each run. I dont care whjat anyone says, but 15psi or any lower hurts the traction on nittos.. 18-22psi is best!!

also if the track prep sucks, find another track <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Our local track isnt prepped too bad, I cut several 1.9X 60's when the car was stock on bald 245 F1's.

I may give the Nitto's another shot Friday. They're still pretty much new (3 passes and 300 street miles) so that may play a part with them not hooking.

This 60' thing still has me confused though. Everybody seems to think I should be cutting high 1.6's with my setup on ET Streets. Spectator's say the car isnt spinning at all.

My best (1.78) was stalling between 22-2300 and mashing it.

Any suggestions on how to get these rumored 1.6X's I should be cutting?

i agree with ya, everyone generally cuts upper 1.6's or lowwwww 1.7's on that combo. Its a few tracks around here that no matter how much a feather the peddle or burnout i STILL cannot hook, so i just dont run there anymore.

but when i started out i was in the low 1.8's, a year later 1.7's, and no solid 1.6's and 1.5's

its just a matter of learning the car and tires. If you stick with anything long enough it will get better.

if not, slap on the et streets and go for gold <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
