Default Front Coilovers....worth it??

Got a 4th Gen fbody, 100% 1/4 mile car. Front suspension is completely stock with the exception of the front sway bar removed. Like I mean STOCK, original 1998 shocks, springs and brakes etc. I'm thinking its probably time for an upgrade.

Here's the thing, The damn car already consistently does 1.4 60's and sometimes 1.35's when the track is good. How much better can I expect to do?

408 w/150 shot - th400 TB - 5000 stall - 9 inch w/4.10 - 28x10.5 Et Drags. MWC short torque arm, old comp eng 3 way shocks, big chassis mount sway bar. 3300lbs? not sure, have not scaled it recently.

What's the set up on the rest of the car? My car worked really well on a good track with stock springs and struts too. I swapped to viking front coil overs and some strange rear shocks. The car is more consistent all around. I do alot of no prep style racing and the adjustability is a must have.

I updated my original post. I had never really gave adjust-ability a thought, its a good point. Might give me something to do between rounds....

I’ll let you know soon. I just did them and have been stock all around until last season I added the rear coil over. I did add a 6 point at the same time and it hurt my 60. I’m hoping the front coilovers will put me back where I was if not better. Car did a best of 1.42 before everything but we’ll see after. Granted 7000ft+ DA is the norm for me. So times aren’t always relevant

Depending on the power level you can get in the teens with some good shocks. Maybe in the 0's if you really have some big power. Like already stated adjustability is huge for track and weather conditions let alone handling. We run Mencers. Incredible shocks.

Well my Formula is in excess of 3,300 lbs with a 346 LS and best 60 foot time is at 1.38 NA and on small amount of nitrous it has produced a best of 1.28 so it seems the front suspension is working!

Lol that bad boy is hooking good for sure. We had the same problem. The 60ft is being triggered by the rear tires. Thats why we went with the Mencers. Car doesn't even leave the ground now with a 200 on the hit. Made a huge difference. Much better 60ft. It was pretty fun though when we would bring the nitrous in just right to ride a 12" wheelie for a 100ft or more. Lol

Yes this Formula has been performing well for many years. You are correct the videos are with QA1 coil overs and travel limiters on front and it has produced 60 foot times on the back wheels. I have since changed over to Menscer shocks on all four corners with great results as well! After riding out a 285 foot long wheelie at Darlington it was time to spend more money keeping this little 346 under better control!

Thats what we had on ours as well. They did pretty good till we hit 850Hp with spray. Then we ran out of clicks. Lol Had to really milk out the juice to keep it on the ground. Wow 285ft. I'll bet that was fun Lol. Your car must go really straight. You definitely got that bad boy dialed in. Its hard to believe what a really good shock can do for you, but it sure does.
