Default Best intake for my combo

I have a NA 346. Current setup is 230/230 111lsa "el torro" cam, milled stock 241 heads w valve job only, ls6 intake, ported stock throttle body, kooks 1-3/4" headers, 3" true dual exhaust, 180 powerglide, 8" 5500 PTC converter, 4.86 gear, 275 radial. It ran 7.21 @ 95mph, 3300 race weight, 90 degree day, with a 1.52 short time.

I'm switching to CNC 799 heads and whatever intake works best with what I have. I have my rev limiter set to 7400. I don't really want to go to a single plane intake and have to buy a throttle body. (I have a 90mm nick williams throttle body and nasty p fuel rails)

What would you guys go with? Also, I will be pulling the engine and putting in my sons s10 with a 3800 9.5" converter and 4l60 after i get my car into the 6s with it.

It depends on your budget and if want to keep the 90 mm throttle body. If that’s a yes then a Fast 92.

MSD intake for your rpm range and I would highly recommend a 102-105 tb. Warr Performance I believe has some reasonable priced tbs that work well. May be able to sell the nw and offset most all of the tb cost.

I will look into a new throttle body. I was under the impression that runner design had more to do with power increase than opening size. Was considering using my TB and a FAST 102, or MSD

Think about it like this, you have a co better that stalls at 5500 rpm. That being said, of the full track run how much time is the engine seeing less than 5500 rpm?

that being said..... I would put whatever intake on that is going to make the most power over 5500, cause what happens below that, really doesn’t matter the motor will ever be there.

Runner length is directly related to rpm range. That’s why I suggest the MSD, it should probably be ported fyi. The 90mm tb opening can only flow so much air so for what you’re doing more is better. What comes in front of the tb matters greatly as well.

i would put a single plain on it if I was keeping it in the car. But after I take it to the track a few times I’m pulling it to put it in my sons s10 street truck with a 3800 stall converter.

So so I guess best option is 102 or MSD. I’m not looking for every .01 so how much hp would it cost me to leave the 90mm TB? I want to pick up .4 or .5 with heads and intake. And with better weather maybe another .1

super vic, 4150, bigger cam to match. Should spin it to 8. Id also put mast small bore heads on it if you can. At a minimum port those ls6 heads by TEA.

don’t want to go bigger cam because it’s going in my son’s truck after I’m done with it. I have CNCd 799s that are going on it.

all of this is just to see how much faster I can go without spending much more money on this combo. Moving to a turbo setup soon.

I want to go min 6.80s on motor

then get a fast 102 ported or a msd 102 ported and a 102 tb.

If you’re changing the combo around soon then leave it alone and do something to the car that will benefit you now and after, turbo k member, something like that.

My .02, I’m not into spending money knowing it’s a temporary

like you said, k-member, manual rack, front coil overs. Which may lighten it up enough to get my 6 second pass in good air. Wanted to do the k-member when I pull the motor though. Wasn’t planning on putting this motor back in

fiberglass hood, battery relocation, aftermarket lower a arms, and skinnies will also help a lot. I just installed viking CO up front and it was super easy and on the street setting, rides like stock. Not bouncy at all. No track time yet.

I would do that stuff- leave the motor alone.... just a better option and will benefit now, and down the road
