Cutting rear springs

Re: Cutting rear springs
Taking them out and cutting them takes me 10 minutes including getting them back in. They go back in the doughnuts perfectly. I guess we can agree to disagree - no big deal. I don't want cheap radiator hose in the suspension of a $35,000 car - that my deal..

Re: Cutting rear springs
I am running 28" MH's on 15x8's for street tires, they come off this weekend.
I can't see lowering the car at all.
My car on 26's looks like I have air shocks.

"I guess we can agree to disagree"
If you don't want heater hose in your "$35,000" car, fine. That's just personal preference. The only thing I took exception to was you making it sound like there was something functionally wrong or even dangerous ("Why put radiator hose in your suspension when you're driving at very high speeds...") with doing this. There is not and I wouldn't want anyone to get the idea that there is. Anyway, no big deal.
"Well the company I run manufactures and distributes leaf and coil springs to OEM customers."
Bet your company manufactures alot of springs that end up being sold as replacements to folks who've hacked theirs up, ehh?

Re: Cutting rear springs
Why lower the rearend?? We are doing 60 foot
1.38 with our car just like it is...
Pain's Car check the video.....
I also seen a post a while back about keeping the nose lower would give you a better 60 foot...
What happen to that idea..?

Re: Cutting rear springs
Reck, I have a set of 28x10.0x15 Hoosier slicks on 15x10's and I will not be able to lower the car. I have a better chance than u since the 15x10's tuck in more, and the 15x8's like urs will sit too flush with the fender. My hoosiers on 28's actually look smaller since they are tucked in.

Re: Cutting rear springs
I cut 1 coil off and did the heater hose trick. The car sits about 1.5" lower now, just like I wanted. I'll let everyone know how traction is effected in a few weeks.

Re: Cutting rear springs
Yep thats about right Terry,I removed the rubber cups and added the heater hose to the stock uncut springs and dropped 1/2in.
I have the Hals so I set the car up in the front end with a slight rake. Then we re-aligned the car with me sitting in the drivers seat. The car steers perfectly now with NO vibrations or wondering anymore...
Bet your car looks good...
Did u get your trans issues worked out yet?

Re: Cutting rear springs
Didn't do anything with the trans yet (it's still stock), but I am doing some engine changes next week. The trans should hold together for some dyno testing and maybe a track run or two.
