Results from Tx. SLP day?
The event was a huge turnout, weather was F^#(&! hot and humid! Probably had an easy 500+ cars in attendance, mostly LS1 F-bodies.
Staging lanes were like 13 wide and filled up, ouch. Took over an hour of sitting to get my first run in. I dumped the clutch at 4500 rpm like usual (on 11 psi Hoosier slicks) and the tires just went up in smoke! It didn't even move forward very far, it was like I was doing a second burnout LOL! 2.50 60' time once the tires finally allowed me to roll forward. I shut it down after that, but then remembered how looooong the lines were so I got back into it to hit the gears for practice. 13.5 @ 121+
Second pass wasn't any better. Dumped at 3000 rpm this time, no hook. Spinning like hell, towards the wall, but stayed in it and slammed 2nd and it finally started to grab a little. 11.21 @ 126 mph (1.78 60'). Plenty of mph to run some high 10s, but no hook. My PCV (or lack of) system acted up on that pass, and spit out some oil from my breather filters mounted on the valvecovers. A little smoke show perhaps?
Third pass, first round of eliminations, in the "slick" class. There were only 6 entries in this class! Where are all the racers with slicks??? I did a burnout, the engine was already pretty hot, and it got hotter, and spit out some coolant from the overfilled catch-can. Left a small puddle, so they pulled me off and told me to take it home
SLP-day SUCKED for racing, but was a pretty cool gathering of showcars. I would have donated some VHT to that track if they would have used it for us.
Oh well, maybe I'll just leave the car like it is and go hit HRP this week.

Can you say sunburn?
I won the slick class and got eliminated in the "king of the track" race in the 1/4 finals. It was fun, but track prep was NOT a priority. Not once during eliminations did I hook up. We had to shut the king of the track competition down to 1/8-mile because the weather got so bad. It sprinkled slightly on us, but we never got any real rain. That was good because I was not looking forward to changing tires and putting my muffler back on in the rain!
It was fun, but the Motorplex lives up to its standard one more time. Unless it's a big event like Super Chevy or regular brackets, they will not keep the track consistently prepped. I also will not be back out to race until the temps drop back down below 100 degrees. That stuff is for the birds.
From the sound of it, it seems like the best thing about this whole event was that no one wrecked given the traction. When I see people posting 60 foot times 0.3-0.4 slower (or worse!) than normal, I know that is one slick track.
