First time bracket racing - I won 1st !

First time bracket racing - I won 1st ! I went up to the track (Moroso Motorsports Park) last night to just get some time runs in. I had to enter in the bracket racing in order even run, so I did. I got in 2 passes before they start eliminations. The track wasn't hooking up for me at all. Even with a really good burnout anything over a 3k launch with the nittos and I was sitting still spinning. The best launch for me was at about 2500rpm I was still able to cut a 1.90 60' but at 3k rpm I was cutting 2.2 60's. So with this launch and not power shifting I was dialed in at 12.40. Whats really funny is..
1. I was the only car in the sportsman/street legal class that was a manual transmission.
2. I was by far the fastest car, the next fastest car was mid 13's.
Anyway there were 30 cars entered in my class. I went 5 rounds to win 1st place. My final race I ran a 12.46 on a 12.40 dial-in with a .585 reaction time. I've never really been a fan of bracket racing, I really prefer heads up style, but I have to admit it was kind of fun. I'll prolly do it again sometime, It's just a pain in the *** to be consistant with a 6 speed.
The best part is I just wanted to go there to get a few passes in I ended up with 7 runs LOL.

Re: First time bracket racing - I won 1st ! Congrats! I run at Moroso too. It's pretty tough for me to run that consistent. (6 spd) I'm hoping gears will help me launch. I plan to get a moser w/ 4.10s soon.

Re: First time bracket racing - I won 1st ! I ran in the Trophy cause it was my 1st time, I didn't what the difference was between the classes. A few guys from the Super Pro were watching us run and after every round I ended up parking on the other side of the pit wall next to them, they kept saying I should have ran in the Pro class, they said after watching me race, I could have beat most of the people in pro. I didn't mind though I got a really nice 3 foot trophy, and I had a great time.
Next time I will start running pro class and get my practice against the bigger guys.
