Legit setup 1st time, what to expect???
Going out for the first time with a new setup this Friday and wanted to get some feedback on how hard I should send it. Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated from those with a bit more experience than I.
I've run it on street tires before with the following:
- 400 whp
- moderately build T-56 (steel shift forks, billet slider keys, carbon blocker rings, stock main shaft)
- Moser 12-bolt with 4.10 gears
- LS7 Clutch
- MWC LCAs/PHB
- Koni Yellows with stranos springs
- Struggled with traction through 1st and 2nd gear
New additions:
- 27x10.50 bias ply Hoosiers
- Monster twin disc clutch
- MWC short torque arm
- MSD 2-step
Keep in mind, i still have the stock driveshaft (which concerns me). what kind of RPM should i launch to prevent fragging the trans or twisting the driveshaft. I've never raced with legit tires before. Any and all advice welcomed, looking forward to reading!
If it bogs off the line, is adding or reducing RPM the correction?
Adding some tire pressure.. would that allow them to slightly spin off the line, allowing the drivetrain to catch up to vehicle speed? I may try that first prior to adding more RPM to prevent a high rpm dead hook which might do some drivetrain damage.

Next pass; didnt make any adjustments, dead hooked then bogged off the line. 2.0 60 ft, 8.3s at 89mph.
Third pass; didnt make any adjustments, dead hooked then bogged and about the same times.
I kind of expected the bog. Next step is to try around 17psi on the tires. If that doesnt fix, looking to up to around 3500rpm.
Anything else from the professionals out there?
