Seems N2O cars run different then NA cars, low 11's would be expected out of the car by me as well, unless it is about 2,600 lbs. Car didnt put down alot of power, do to N2O and auto tranny. But who knows. it will go on the spray for sure!!

I guess I have higher standards. If I were building even a nitrous motor and it's a dedicated racecar, it had better be able to go at least bottom 10's and that's if I'm using stock or near stock cubes at 3300 lb raceweight. Now if you're talking street cars then obviously a new set of standards would be required.

Big mike, noyzee, reckless, and everyone else- thanks for the compliments. Yes this is the car that bob built over the winter. The chassis is awesome and with the esp motor the car screws. The set up is similiar to big mikes so I hope I can atleast get close to where he is. Mike set the bar for 346 cu 1/4 times , so atleast I have a # to look at....

it is a street car. I know the car will go in the 10's on motor. and 9's on spray but I want to get it there before yelling out what I am going to do. I want to do it forst and get used to driving it. I drive with hands and no feet so I need to get used to the car.

My car is a dedicated race car built mainly for nitrous. It 11.2x @ 122 on motor and 9.40 @142+ on spray. If the car is set up strictly for nitrous, don't expect much from it NA.

Ehhh...I'm not going to argue with you. If 11.2 on motor is good in your books for a nitrous motor than I'm glad you're happy.

My Formula will be set up the same way yours is set up Mike.

I don't want to race it NA, and it's tune will be set up for nitrous.

Have you raced the new setup, Mike?

LtlHomer,

repsectfully here is my .02

sorry but Big Mike is right! ever see ARE's old silver Z run on motor! only in the 11's!!!! shifting 3rd at the stripe!!! then 1 hour later bottle goes in and runs 8.6's! so setup is key!

my car is a compromise, more towards spray, so i give up some on motor, that is ok though, because I am out having fun in MY car, i built it just like i wanted !!!! and i am not ashamed to run high tens in my 3400 # street car!

i am sure Scott will be having fun in his monster! a low 11 second car is very impressive in my books! hell low twelves are fun too! and then whammo throw a bottle at it, just when you thought this **** couldn't get any better

Mr.B, I'm still running my same old setup. The 408 will be going in over the winter. This fall I will be trying for that 8 sec pass with my current setup.

Taner, thank you for verifying my statement!

Its not just the motor man it is the gearing, tranny and converter setup for spray. Not to mention lower timing richer AF tune

With those factors changed for NA the results would be radically different. Have you ever even raced a nitrous car?

LTLHomer. please don't start problems.

A-those that live in glass houses should not throw rocks. you obviously don't know what you are talking about, you're sitting here trying to dispute a very proven and well known fact in drag racing. A 8-9 second car setup to run hard on spray is gonna loose at least a half second on the N/A side if ran in that same spray trim. swap in a different gear, tire, and tune and most likely problem solved.

B-Big Mike's car is rather fast. He also can bench press his vehicles raceweight. I personally do not argue with him.

Once again, discuss all you want but no attacks, I'm cranky today and I'll lock this **** faster than you can say "please big mike don't break my legs".

Actually the difference can be 2-3 seconds but I fully agree with what you are saying

I agree, I have a hard time tring to explain that tho. no one believes me. oh well. N2O cars go slower on motor, heavy parts, set up, tune, bla bla. It is true.
even my buddies stang, 11.2 na with a 400 ci motor, 275 shot, car went 9.4 @144 with a 1.5 60'!!!!! its a proven fact

Chris, that's why I said AT LEAST .5 second. biggest gap I've ever seen on a fast EFI car I think was just uner 2 seconds between spray and motor.

back at ya.

I give up.

Chris ARE 385...how about we set something up and see how much you know about going fast? My stock bottom-end heads/cam car vs your built motor w/ more cubes and way better heads. Interested? I'm in Metro Detroit but I'll meet you at Cayuga, Grand Bend, 401, wherever you want.
