Any updates from the MMRA race?
Hmmm, maybe I should call Colonels cell. I think he picked up for Tony once in the middle of a burnout .
He told that he met some really decent people at the track this weekend, and even though the turnout wasn't too good,... and the blown motor ..there were some pretty cool people and cars there.
I did get a chance to run Bob Cosby but his transmission broke so I advanced to the next round. Bob is a nice guy and can drive his butt off!! During TNT this morning he ran an 11.8x at around 111mph.
I got a good picture my car launching. If you use a little imagination you can see air (maybe just a little) under the tire!

Thanks to Tums and the rest of the MMRA group for putting on a class event.

Anyways...all fixed now. I've obviously done this WAY too much, as it took me less than 2 hours to do the clutch swap (no power tools even).

"bob cosby mustang never even made a full pass sunday colonel was running 10.30s 10.50s today also."
My quickest pass of the weekend was 10.33 and my slowest was 10.39. I was fairly pleased with that considering the weight and conditions compared to last spring when I was running 9.8s.
Al did the "autopsy" on the car and the results are pretty grim
The oil pump failed. The oil pump gears are in about 20 pieces. It destroyed the crank shaft, 6 rods, 1head, and 1 intake cam.
However, he is building the "New and Improved" model as I am typing this! (darn gearheads!)
Thanks for the intrest in the car, and Al looks forward to racing with you guys again. In spite of everything, he had a great time!

Tell Al thanks for the compliments on the car.

I did make one decent pass Sunday....went 11.89 @ 113 mph. Lazy (for slicks) 1.65 60 ft, and contrary to what my buddy John said, I sure didn't drive it well. Oh well, it was still a decent hit, all things considered.
When I went up to make my next pass, the car didn't want to come out of 2nd after the burnout, and didn't want to go into ANY gear once I did get it out. Looks like the clutch bit the dust. Can't complain, as it is a stock clutch, and it has been in there for a LONG time, and has many passes. I brought a spare with me that I could have installed, but I decided to wait till I had access to a lift vice spending a couple of hours on my back at he track.
The tranny is fine. It's gone 4 races now with nary a hickup. Hopefully I've finally found a reasonable solution to that problem (breaking input shafts).
I feel sick about Al's 5.4L car. That thing runs REALLY, really well.
John...was nice meeting ya - and congrats on your runner-up finish - YOU EARNED IT!!
