Bad news guys....
The Roofer was interested in going another route so I bought his old setup.
It’s not the engine I would build given the options Tom had, but it’s a pretty stout setup nevertheless.
It’s a 4.125” bore and offset crank for 396 cubic inches. CR is 12.0:1, the cam is an old hydraulic 229 grind (229/229 112ls), with a set of ported LS6 heads on top. I don’t know the valve size but I think they are 2.08 1.60.
It has a stock LS6 intake, MMS TB, MMS oil pump, R lifters, stock rockers, A4 w/ 4.10s, locked TP4400, EWP, PS bypass, LS1 Lid, k&n, stock bellows, SVO 30#, etc. I’ll be putting the stealth airlid back on soon too.
I added 50 cubic inches and picked up 50rwhp. Not a bad gain considering. I’m going to try to take the car out to Carlsbad Saturday, but I’m having some tranny shifting / too big of a stall type problems I need to work through before I start to compete with George et. al. As soon as I pay my bills off I’ll throw a solid roller in, put a sheet metal intake on, and raise the CR up to 14:1.
PS. John when I was there Derek was working on your car and Dan was working on mine.
So who has the highest dynoing hydrolic cam motor under 400 cubic inches on LS1TECH? I need a new sig.
MMS decided to finish up your car instead of devoting time to my car...which has been down since December 9th. MMS doesn't rock...atleast not for me.

Wow how utterly amazing. I got a friend who is in the same boat! His car has been down since November waiting on a motor from MMS!

Terry, I really hope you have better luck with that engine than I did. I really do. That leaker kept me out of drag racing for over 12 months. I have a few more things to say IMO why that 396 won't last long but I don't care to discuss them over the internet.
The valves are supposed to be 210/160.
I hope you will gain from my misfortune. Enough said.
Good luck to you Terry.

Note: MMS is going to stay late tonight AND coming in early tomorrow morning in order to allow me to pick up my car. Thanks guys! Looks like I might be racing very soon!!! The 12 bolt, K-member, and 3.5" Y-pipe will all be finished within the week.

Really!
Glad they are getting the lead out!
I just called Al and he said my MMS C5R 427 will be ready by next Friday.

Terry, Because my name was mentioned I feel compelled to reply. I have not mentioned one word of my misfortune on this or any other message board.

As of right now the motor makes tons of power and doesn't leak, that's all that matters to me.
If I had MMS build it from scratch for me I wouldn't have done the offset grind to the crank, would have run 13:1 CR, would have run a larger camshaft, and would have used titanium intake valves. For what it is I'm pretty impressed though! How many other all bore type guys are making 496rwhp with such a small cam? It's not like my car is a dyno queen either I run 4.10s and 17" rims out back.
If I can just keep the trans together long enough to get a couple passes out of it I'll be in good shape.
LMAO!!!!!

Why would you want to run titanium intake valves? If you convert to solid roller...you don't have to worry about colapsing the lifter at high RPM.

I believe that a lighter valvetrain coupled with an aggressive lobe makes for better acceleration.
