Default Need some help with BFG DR info ------->

I'm trying to calculate my raceweight for the Southern Shootout, and I'm needing to know how much more the BFG's are going to weigh vs. my 26x9x15" Hoosier slicks. Anyone know what the BFG's weigh in at? Also, I can run a 275/50R15 that measures 26.1" tall or a 275/60R15 that measures 28" tall. I'm thinking of going with the 275/60's because it will kill some of my gearing. My car hits hard out of the hole, so I don't know how much the DR's will take. I'd rather kill a little gearing and hook much more consistently. I know I'll lose some MPH, but who cares so long as she's running the ET. I honestly don't think it will kill too much MPH since my 26" Hoosier slicks do swell on the top-end. Any thoughts would be great.

Trevor

I currently have a set of 26x10 Hoosier slicks on my Centerlines. I will be dismounting them, and mounting my 275/50/15 BFG DR's this afternoon (or perhaps tomorrow afternoon). I will weigh both setups and let you know the difference. It should be minor.

Related note...from experience...I was suggest racing about 20 lbs over weight. It can suck big time when you cut it real close, and then the weather changes, and the scale reads 5 lbs less than it did, and you're 5 lbs underweight, and you just lost the race you won.

I'll let you know.

I think the 28s are a good idea. More rollout and you'll get a softer hit off the line with the gearing change too.
Cheers,
Chris

thanks Bob! That would be GREAT. I had planned on keeping the raceweight right around 3,515#, but I was wanting to see where the tire change would put me. Thanks in advance for the help.

I think I will go ahead with the 28's. It's better to play it a little on the safe side.

LOL! I guess that's what I'll go with. Our cars are so similar it's scary.

Hey Mike (my favorite guy),

The 275-60-15 Nittos are finally out? How much were they?

Hey John, so nice to hear from you.
I got a deal through a local dealer so I dont know what the real price is. I paid considerably less than 300 for the pair though.

I paid like $125 each for the 275-50-15'ers a while back if you can get the 60's for less than $150 each that's a good thing... I totally (grab) appreciate (a) your help I have been very interested(lane) in these and(at) talked to Nitto(Thunder) a few times to see when they would be released.

Ok. You should gain 6 lbs total with the BFG DR's over the Hoosier slicks.

Centerline Convo Pro w/26x10 Hoosier slick = 31 lbs

Centerline Convo Pro w/275/50/15 BFG DR = 34 lbs

Hope that helps.

BTW...I'm usually in the market for used 275/50/15 BFG DR's (sorry, no Nitto's). If you have some for sale - please keep me in mind.

Thanks for the info Bob! That's much less than I was expecting. I'll have a few odds and ends to offset the added weight, so I should still be at 3,510-3,515# with me in it.

I'll keep ya in mind if I run across a set of used 275/50/15's.
