Thanks Randy! I know the stock WS6 hood is fiberglass, but not too much lighter than the TA hood because of the plethora of reinforcing on the underside of the hood.

If hes doing custom hoods why dont he make a replica of the firehawk hood that would rock!
youd have alot more people buy those. note: like the firehawk and not the raptor.
id definatly get one of these.

It is a bolt on hood, but do the provisions needed (different latches/struts) come with the hood or do you sell them separately?? If so how much do they cost??
Also, if I get a clear 20lb hood, is it safe to not have it pinned on??

I'm skeptical that a 12# hood will have hinge or shock provisions. My stock Z28 hood was ~48# with hardware and my VFN pinon (fiberglass) is ~18#.

Re: cat's out of the bag ... Ram Air / SS Light Weight Hoods
i would love to see someone make a WS6 hood with a 4" cowl or so. i see them in mags from time to time of drag cars like a month or two ago in car craft mag. but i have never had any luck finding one. guess until then i will keep my stock WS6 hood. besides paying an arm & a leg to have one custom done if anyone finds any that are produced please post it.thanks

Is that because of the carbon fiber alone?

LOL hate to admit but Terry does have a point ... I revised the original post to reflect the pricing for pin on and bolt on options. No weights on bolt on yet.

Re: cat's out of the bag ... Ram Air / SS Light Weight Hoods
Do I understand this right? Yesterday what I thought was a bolt on hood for $450 is in reality a pin on hood and the bolt on is now $295 more? When will we know how much this $745 bolt on hood weighs?
thanks
Tom

It's not your fault. You don't manufacturer or set the cost of the hoods. As a matter of fact, thanks for getting all the info.
I will wait patiently for the weight of the bolt on SS hood.
Thanks man.

Unless you get lots of people wanting one, you are going to end up paying thousands to have the mold made just for you.

Re: cat's out of the bag ... Ram Air / SS Light Weight Hoods
Bolt on VFN hood shipping weight is 18 pounds. (TA/Formula stock style)
Pin on VFN hood shipping weight is 12-13 pounds.
(TA/Formula stock style)
This does not include hardware.
Stock steel TA/Formula hood is between 48-50 pounds and the WS6 hood is 5 pounds lighter at 43-45 pounds.
cheers,
Chris
