Default Tire

Which tire is better for handling more horsepower and torque for drag racing 28x12.5 or 315/60?

More than enough proof out there it’s how the chassis/gears/suspension/diet/tune is set up, not so much the tire. Cars are running 6 second 1/4 miles on 275/60’s small tire.

Steve Morrison ran a 4.24 on small tire.

set ur car up right with small tire to keep the weight down. Rotational mass is a time killer.

Yoji posts the same basic questions on Reddit too.

Yoji are you some person living in East Asia on an island?

I'll bite. A 315 (millimeter) is wider than a 12.5 (inch). A 60 isn't exactly equal to a 28" tire though as the 60 is an expression of the sidewall height/diameter ratio, not the absolute height of the tire.

Which one is better for your particular application is a different question. There are many other variables such as the tire compound, fitment, suspension, weight and racing class. I suggest you post up details of your car and objectives or read and search a lot in this forum and also in the tire and wheel forum.

Wide spread of power train options dont you think? Post a picture of your actual car and your current setup. We need to see that badass setup to give you the right answer.

Okay fair, I have seen you post this either/or scenario a few times.

One time you mentioned a fox body, is that still the plan?
