Default Whos running stock driveshaft?

How fast is a stock driveshaft good for. Just wondering how fast people are going on their stock driveshafts. When do I have to worry about replacing it.

I have a 01 with a AL shaft. motor puts out around 400RWHP, it's a M6 my best 1/4 to to date was a 12.06 with a 2.0 60ft. I just put on a set of ET Streets and a 12 bolt with 3.90's hoping for 11.50's with a good 60 but wondering if the shaft will hold up.

Please post your times and setup on stock shaft.

Thanks Rob

Sounds like you will be giving your more of a workout than i do. But FWIW I ran a fiew 1.63 60's and 9.90's in the 1000' (thats about 11.9-12.0 in the 1/4 for those who live in a state that builds full 1/4 tracks DARN arkansas)

Stock DS is fine for now. When you do upgrade, don't let anyone tell you that you need to get "So and So's" Steel Driveshaft for 400 bucks spend an extra 100.00 and get a good chromemoly shaft made with a billet yoke.

Well thats good to know a few prople are running that fast on stock shafts. Guess I wont worry about buying a new one just yet. But think I'm still gonna buy a loop for it, just in case.

Stockish driveshaft here, meaning stock front and rear yokes, a conversion rear u-joint (stock-1350), but the driveshaft has been re-tubed since it had to be lengthened for my TH350 tranny.

I still use the stocker.....in an A4 they can live through some unreal punishment.... but in an M6 they tend to have a much shorter lifespan.

Good luck.
