Default Has anyone TUBBED their car?

Has anyone tubbed their car? I ask this because I dropped the car off today for the 10 point roll cage install and we talked about possibly tubbing the car in the future. This would affect the bar placement in the rear if I decided to tub the car in the future.

What would I gain? Well better traction because I would be able to run bigger tires but would I really need bigger tires. LOOKS BAD A$$ lol. I love the looks of a tubbed car.

What would I lose? Heavier tires to drag down the track if I really didn't need them to hook and not being able to run in races like the shootout because the suspension would be altered.

I'm not saying I am going to tub the car but just looking for suggestions or comments.

Thanks

It's going to be a HOT tub! Think of all the chicks it would draw at the beach! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[pimp]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_pimp.gif" />

I was going to do this in the back of my 'ole '87 Silverado once but I couldn't find springs stiff enough to support the extra weight. 4-5 hundred gallons of water and 3-4 chicks are HEAVY! Maybe you could use some airbags? I didn't think about that at the time.

I'll be doing mini-tubs this winter just to allow me to use a different wheel and tire combo. I need to move the tires inward about 2".

i to have been very interested in the thoughts of doing this to my car. just curious as to the price and what all will have to be changed to do it.

mikey i know you have good connections but whats the mini tub worth. ie. tire size you can run. and whats the price difference in the true tubb and a mini.

With the right minitub setup we can easily run a 29-30" tire on a 15x10 rim, and the car will sit down over the rim/ tire combo not sit up like most of ours do...

Going more than a minitub is for cars that will go in the 1.2's and run in the low 8's and 7's.

I know that Job Spetter's old SS/0 car that Moe Atat owns now has gone 7.77@182 on a TRUE stock style mustange suspension (no ladder bars <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> ) and a true 28x10.5" tire

In the Fun Ford Weekend races i do believe they allow a 29" W tire.....so the times are in the mid 7s i believe

When I went to Lingenfelter I saw a 2000 Z that was mini-tubbed there. The work looked VERY extensive and expensive.

Ive thought about this before too. Stock frame rail mini tub with a ladder bar setup. That is what a lot of the Limited Street cars do.

Only real reason I would even want to do that is to race NMCA or PRO races but even still, you can make the f-bdy torque arm setup work just a little difficult.

In the end, I like these little heasd up f-body shootouts that happen a few times each year and that is what MY car is more geared towards anyway.

W doesnt mean wide. I am pretty sure it just means a little wider. Like MT 15 Ws are 17 inches wide. Not sure on all the details.

Basically this tire is a tad taller and a tad wider than a normal 28x10.5 BUT it grows a lot more on the top end making it much more stable and you can put the power to the ground a lot harder and not worry as much blowing off the tires

Tom with the trend going towards true 10.5 inch tires and away from the W's (hence the stiff wall 10.5's) I would stay away from the tubs as long as you stay with stock config suspension.
