Default Lightweight carpet installed

I installed the home depot carpet over the last couple of days. I installed the grey color carpet and it matches the interior of my car really well. It was a little tough molding it etc and I made a couple of small mistakes but it looks really good. I had my stock carpet (backhalved) before so I could remove the rear portion at the track. This full carpet before any trimming weighs a lot less than the front half of the carpet I had in the car before LOL!
I am also going to backhalf this new carpet at the track too. Total savings over fully stock carpet is about 30-32 pounds. Saved about 15 pounds over my previously backhalved carpet <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Cheers,
Chris
ps- I have removed about 30 pounds out of the car, another 60 pounds to go before next visit to the track <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" /> Cost of carpet = 30 bucks <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Do you have any pics?

Sounds like you are pleased.

I would definately spend ~$30 to save 30 lbs.

Sounds good Chris! How much more interior noise do you have now? My cage and carpet go in on Tuesday.

Chris, I'm putting my interior back in next week. I'm using Dynobatt Extreme underneath my lightweight carpet. It adds some #'s, but it will make a huge difference. Still a 20 lb savings from stock, I figure.

Hey, I found this guy on the side of the road selling carpet... Whaddya think, Elvis up front, a roaring tiger in the back? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I'm going to try my 'jute padding removed' carpet first. I stripped a 94Z a while back, kept the carpet, but threw out a big pile of padding. Admittedly, it'll weigh more than the Home Depot carpet, but it's cheaper (aka "free"). Saves maybe 10 lbs over stock.

Hey if you wanna run the numbers AND keep the car reliable (weight breaks ****) then it is the only way to go <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I am not even that hardcore, some guys have NOTHING left in the car <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> (Props to them <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> )

In my old 1997 Formula the interior consisted of the driver seat, the dash and console, pedals, and a steering wheel <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> . no door panels or anything <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> , cept on the way there i had a friend ride with me so i threw the right rear bucket in, lol, he said he couldnt hear a thing, whenever he ahd to say anything, he had to move forward to the big empty passenger spot and shout at me <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Light weight carpet is a great modification Chris. I did this one 2 years ago. I used marine carpet.

Post those pics.
