Default Harlan light not working right

I installed this shiftlight about a year ago and it does not come on in 1st. and 2nd. gear. It comes on in 3rd. gear everytime. I don't know what the problem is. I have the light set at 6,400 and the rev limiter is 6,800 so I know I should see the light come on before I hit the rev limiter. ALso the light always comes on when you turn on the car like it should so I don't know whata the problem is. I just think it's hurting my times because we all now how acurrate the stock tachs are.

If it's coming on sometimes, double check your tach signal connection.

Gear shouldn't have any effect on it, as the signal is the same all the time.

how are you guys making the tach signal connection??

The tach signal never changes format, and the light doesn't know the difference in gear.

Please tell me you're NOT using those crimp on splice tap things.

ummm, no comment

I'll solder them, hopefully that will fix everything. I thought it was really wierd that it seemed to ONLY do it in 3rd. never did it not work in 1st or 2nd.

Alright I'll double check. It's been such a long time I can't remember.

if you get the right size ones, they do work. But the blue ones 18-20 gauge are usually too big for the PCM wires. The red ones are better, 20-22 gauge wire.

I just don't trust non-OEM style crimp terminals or splices, and i still solder them anyway

Most electrical failures are due to mechanical failure first, see it way too many times
