gains from tr 224
Well, my previous best was 12.6 @ 112 1.99 60'. This was at Gateway in St louis in March on a cold night, before a cut-out, pulley, ported tb, and a TR 224 @ 114.
I ran 12.7-12.8 111-112 at Bryon in May, with cutout added.
Today at Byron I ran 2 runs. One 12.537 @ 113.73 1.997 60' (bogged!), and the other 12.504 113.79 2.042.
Before the cam and tb, I dyno'd 350/396. I dyno'd 396/396 after the cam, and ported TB. So since the last time I've raced, I've added the pulley (5-10 hp?), and cam/tb (46 hp). Obviously, it makes more power! Lots more. I shifted at 6400, but noticed the night before my peak was at 6000, but made good power until 6400 or so, although ~ 5-8 horse less than 6k.
Today I noticed a head wind, and we had a front on its way in, so I'm sure the barometric pressure was low(er).
Could this explain my 'missing' mph and ET? I figured 12.2-12.3 @ 115+.
Needless to say I was a bit disappointed. I autotapped the runs, and my LTRIMS were 0/0, O2's .890-.900, ZERO knock retard, and an average timing of 32 (is this too much? I've added about 5 across the board).
Your opinions?
Oh yeah, my buddy bull_in_a_china_chop got zero runs before we got rained on. He has been racing 2X this year, and make a grand total of 1 pass. HA!

Re: gains from tr 224
probably just the weather..
last weekend i only got one pass in and went 11.90@114 with the 224 cam. But I only cut a 1.70 60 on that pass
my best stock internally before cam was 11.95@112 but on a 1.58 60
weather was hot and given the 60 i know its another 3-4tenths hiddin in her. I'd say you have another 2-4tenths in yours also!! hell on those dyno numbers you should have easy 11.8's
i'd be happy to have 360hp and 390tq in my A4 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
good luck and things will get better..

Youre not reving the engine high enough to take full advantage of the cam. You probably should shift 1st gear at 6800 rpms and 6700 rpms for 2nd and 6600rpms for third.

Re: gains from tr 224
I was wondering about my shift points, but I'm a bit confused. On my dyno sheet, peak power came at 6k, not 6200 as expected and as others have. I'd like to think I tuned it well? WTF? Now, it did not drop after 6k too much, it stayed within 10 hp of peak to 6600. Do I need to let it rip even more?
Help me out, I'm a sad chap right now. It pulls way better, and 46 hp more should not = 2 tenths?

Re: gains from tr 224
I checked out the weather for yesterday, and the DA was 1390. I checked it out for the other days i've raced in the past, and they were all negative.
How much effect does a high(er) DA have on ET/MPH?

The da at GLD today was -800, which works out to be almost 6% more hp than sea level. On a 400hp engine it would be around 24 more hp than at sea level. That would show up as around 2mph more in the quarter mile.
410 gears would give you 1 or 2 mph more in the quarter if you were to hook.
For your shift points, pay attention to what rpm the engine drops down to after each shift. Then from the dyno graph, look up how much hp the engine is making before and after the shift. For example when shifting at 6500rpms, the engine is making 380hp before the shift and then after the shift the engine rpms drop down to 4500rpms and is only making 350hp, you should raise the shift point. Ideally, the engine should be making the same hp before the shift as it does after the shift.
It sounds more complicated than it is and is hard to put into words whats going on.
Anyway, it sounds like you are on the right track. It was just crappy weather that slowed you down. Hopefully with a better launch and some good weather youll get into 11's.
Good Luck <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Re: gains from tr 224
I am getting P0300 (engine misfire detected), P0135 (HO2S Heater Ckt. Bank 1 Sensor 1) and PO155 (HO2S Heater Ckt. Bank 2 Sensor 1).
Could this cause my car to perform badly? What is causing these? It has gotten cold lately, and when I start the car it idles poorly and hunts for idle. After drilling the tb and adjusting the set screw, it idled perfect in warm weather.
Could my 02 sensor's be bad?
